good salmon sushi, expensive food, love sushi bar, not that great service, enjoyed mushroom, enjoyed tofu soup, big difference
Knife-wielding chefs put on a show at this communal Japanese grill..
In Short
Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.
What happened to the lunch specials?. Great thing about this place was the lunch specials, sushi was good what made them great was it was so cheap during lunch now that they got rid of the lunch specials there is no point of going can get same quality for half the price at other places.
good sushi. the sushi bar is the best one so far...they have the freshest fish..they also have sushi special during lunch..the service can be a pain but it is worth it...love the tempura hand roll and the salmon sushi...I wouldn't recommend the same for the tepanyaki...tried it and not so loved it....But I love the sushi bar...
Not the best one around.. The place was a little too warm, even before the chef was cooking! The service wasn't that great either, we had reservations but it took them 30+ minutes to get us seated. It was kind of cool to see that President Clinton has been there, but I've been to better Benihana's.
Another Birthday. Group of 9 went for a another Birthday celebration. We've been here many times before. Since it was a Tuesday night there was a short wait for the table. Service was pretty much like clockwork until the end... Order taken, drinks served, sushi was pretty good, enjoyed the mushroom, onion & tofu soup, salad was kinda dry & limp. In my opinion, the cook was moving at a slower pace then on the weekends. He was entertaining and we actively particpated which makes a big difference. I prefer the steak & scallops, spouse enjoys the steak & lobster, kids prefer the chicken & steak combo. Rest of the group split between the fish, steak, chicken, sushi & noodles. All in all the food was very good and entertaining too. Took a while for the ice cream & Birthday Song. Avg price per person for our group including drinks was $33.00
