The Scene – The lights may be dim, but the energy at Banana Bay is as vibrant as this Thai restaurant's sunny yellow walls. Colorful sand and seashells that fill the glass tanks lining the walls are another playful touch. The outgoing atmosphere draws big groups of young locals on any given party night, which seems to be every night at the restaurant. So raised is the volume at every table that the Elvis impersonator or jazz band on stage is mere background noise. Add in multiple flat-screen TVs around the room and it makes for fantastic entertainment. – – The Food –…

Best overall dining experience

by missmy240 at Citysearch

This is my first review!! woot!

First i have to say "wow!"

I went to Nogales High School, so Banana Bay (B-bay!) was a known spot. I used to go there all the time with my friends because they were open late had great food and the prices were unbelievably low. It seems like they have new ownership in the last couple of years, the quality of the food and drinks definately exceeds what it was when i was in high school (graduated '01).

I can recommend two dishes.... King Noodle and Crying Tiger. The noodles in the King Noodle were perfectly cooked and the sauce amazing. Crying Tiger is seared Rib Eye I think, a little bit spicy and simply fantastic.

Their Thai tea with Boba is some of the best around and their blended Coconut Drinks (made with fresh young coconut) are the best i've ever had.

Their dishes are always very well balanced for flavor and spice, but if you want it spicy, they will take care of you!!!

  • Pros: Great food, LOW prices, awesome drinks. beautifully decorated
  • Cons: New ownership solved all my concerns!

Banana Bay has to be one of my favorite places to eat now. The first thing I was impressed by was the beautiful ambience accompanied by a wonderful live band playing. The next best thing was how friendly and attentive our server was. And to top that off.......the food was incredibly delicous!!!!!!!!! Everything was cooked to perfection and had just the right flavor! The food was like the icing on the cake :) I highly recomend Banana Bay to anyone that appreciates great food and a great place to enjoy eating it!
