WTF?.
The bartender and the "girl that said she is the manager" accused me of trying to pay with a fake $20 bill. They made a total obvious spectacle. I asked the manager-dont you have one of those markers? She said-"Yes, but they dont always work." (WTF?) I'm an African-American female. The way she was looking at me, the way that the situation was addressed- the demeaning tone that the manager used. I was stunned! I got that $20 back, reached in my wallet and took out another $20. They looked at it-but took that one. Everyone at the bar heard and saw this. I than took my drink-sat down-held my head high. Didnt even think about establishing a tab after that incident.Paid with cash after every drink. Felt crucified! Horrible situation. I will never go back and I will never refer this place. I just wanted to watch football have a drink or two and eat-less the drama! By the way-the $20 was real.

No Place Like Backstage.
Backstage is one of the best establishments in Los Angeles. I have been going to Backstage off and on for nearly five years and the place always seems to get better each year. It has a little bit of everything for everyone, including karaoke, trivia, happy hour, sporting events, and live music.
Backstage has excellent food and drinks at very good prices. During happy hour, the prices on food and drinks are really amazing and not many places in town can even compete. They are accurate when they say “best bar food in town.” I personally think the hamburgers, garlic fries, and mac & cheese are delicious.
The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed at Backstage. The service is great, even when the place gets crowded. The bartenders make strong drinks. The atmosphere might be questionable to some people. It does have a dive bar ambiance, which is dark inside, with plain décor and can get hot when the bar fills up.
Karaoke nights, the bar’s biggest draw Thursday through Friday, tend to get very crowded. The singing can be very loud and terrible, which is to be expected, but can also be a lot of fun. Occasionally, dancing commences on the bar’s diminutive dance floor.
The clientele consists of a decent mix of people of various ages, culture, and attractiveness. Backstage has been named one of the best singles bars in Los Angeles which I find to be true. It is hit-or-miss; some weekends the singles scene is great and other weekends it’s off.
Backstage is a one of a kind bar experience in LA. If you visit with the intentions of having a good time, I believe that you will be pleasantly satisfied with your experience.
Pros: Drinks, food, affordability, entertainment, good mix of people
Cons: Tends to get crowded, small, not much lighting, loud on karaoke nights

Best Dive in town.
This place is by far my favorite bar in LA. I have been here 2 years now and haven't found a place that comes close in price of drinks. The staff are super nice and treat you with a smile. Sort of feels like Cheers, with better looking bartenders. We go for Trivia every Sunday. This Place has everything. I simply love it.

SOmetime you Wanna GO...!!.
Backstage has been one of my favorite places to go in LA for a couple of reasons. One, they have not raised their prices basically since I started going there. Every nigt is a new special and my favorite: $2 Tuesdays where every drink (well) is $2. They have a cozy fireplace and the vibe is very non-LA which can be stuck up and snobby when bars try to achieve that vibe. Also the staff barely ever changes and is friendly. If I have a problem with my drinks or food they have always just replaced it instead of giving me the third degree. This past weekend my friends and I wanted to do Karaoke but got there around 11 and the list was full., if you want to sing you've gotta be on it!! I can safely say this is my favorite bar in LA.

No parking, lots of police patrols, smells like vomit.
A dirty little hole in Culver City that has no parking, inexperienced lazy staff, But had decent food for a dive bar. I just can not get over the horrible smell of vomit the permeates through out the entire bar. On my various visits to the place the restrooms where horrible with feces floating around on the floor. Tell the staff you work at the studio for a discount on drinks and food.

BEST bar.
OK So I've gone here a few times now and I thought it was time I reviewed the place!!! Seriously my friends and I ADORE this bar. There's karaoke on weekends and you can get VERY drunk for VERY little. We've had the same waitress two Saturday's in a row now and she' s SO sweet/bubbly and took care of us all night long even though it was ridiculously crowded where we sat. The bill is soo cheap and she even gave us a free drink because mine spilled. Where else does that happen in this city? Also I think you can have birthday parties here because I saw a lot of people with cakes. One lady gave me a piece of hers which made me VERY happy in my drunken state. Love Backstage Bar.

MY NEW FAVORITE BAR.
The Backstage is, hands down, my favorite bar in LA. Don't be fooled by the exterior. It looks a little forbidding at first. But when you walk in, its like entering an alternative world where everything is right. The place is very dimly lit, but very warm feeling. Everyone that works there is unbelievably friendly. You feel at home right away. Drinks are cheap and the food is sensational. I dont really live that close by, but when my friends and I start trying to figure out where to go, we can never come up with an idea that we like better, so off we go to the Backstage. I highly recommend a drink they make called the Culver City Slut. Its goooood. Thanks Backstage, dont ever change!

GARLIC FRIES AND BEER!!!!.
I've been going to the Backstage for the Sunday games the past couple of weeks. Its been great. I start the morning with a Bloody, which is quite tasty, horse radish and all. Usually, by then I'm feeling alive and switch to beer. They have alot of televisions so I can always find a game I'm interested in. There fries are so good and garlicky that last week I had two orders in one sitting. Warning: there is a weird Seahawk contingent in the bar.
