The Scene
This is a genuine Irish pub, with the flag hanging over Guinness promotional posters, a host of European beers on tap and a familial atmosphere. It's also an American sports bar, with dingy wood interiors, no-frills seating and a big-screen TV flickering along with a dozen others, which broadcast sports from around the globe. An outdoor patio is nicely blocked off from the street with tables and heat lamps, a perfect smokers' retreat, despite the view of unglamorous Washington Boulevard traffic. The staff is surprisingly attentive, and the mixed crowd gets rowdier after sunset.
The Draw
Men and women are equally comfortable here, strangers share the pool table and groups of hipsters swill drafts while playing endless games of cards. Albeit dark and moody, Joxer may be one of the few dives where you could bring your mother.

This place is an awesome dive bar to hang out in on a nightly basis if you can. The staff is always friendly if you are respectful and friendly too. The food is great for it being bar food and the portions are HUGE, this place does not promote itself as a 5 star restaurant so expect good BAR food and that's what you'll get. As for those saying there is some kind of "gambling" going on Tuesday nights it's actually a really fun $100 raffle; you put your name in a book and every Tuesday night they pick a name, you have to be there to claim the price or your name is posted up as a looser and the $100 goes into the next week's raffle, meaning the following week it'll be $200, I think the biggest it ever got was just over a grand. As for those saying Mehaul is rude or obnoxious you could not be more wrong, he is super friendly and cares about the environment in his bar, so if you are ruining the vibe for everyone by being an a-hole of course he's going to treat you the same way. If you come expecting a super trendy place forget it, this place is down to earth and relaxed which is why I love it. I come here in jeans and T with some old converse on expecting to have a good time with friends, if i want to get bothered by some drunk a-holes I'll go to Hollywood. As for those upset about being hurried out of the bar when it's closing time, DUH! It's CLOSING time which means these ppl still need to clean up for an hour or more before heading home. I love this place and I bring all of my out of town friends here, I'd recommend it to EVERYONE in an instant. (PS I'm 24 and the crowd is a little older but that's why it's such a chill place to hang out in)

Great Entertainment (As far as Bands go) . On Feb. 22, 2009 I went by myself for the 1st time in at least 10 years to see an excellent cover band that will be at "Brennan's Pub" on Lincoln in Marina Del Rey on March 7, 2009 The owner must not pay his Bartenders very well, I started a tab the short ugly brunette Bartender physically gave me a number tag to identify my Credit Card. I had a shot of 1800 Tequila and a Heineken (bottled) when I went to close out my tab she charged me over $38.00 and told me "You were buying drinks for everyone" with an attitude from hell! (I came to the Bar alone and didn't know anybody why would I buy total strangers drinks) ) I questioned it and then she called me a idiot and against her will changed my total to $22.50 which is still not even close to my order total?! when I asked how much the Tequila was she said "$8.50 but only charged me $4.50 a#%hole" so that means the Heineken's are $18.00 after that the Door man tells me" You have to leave now the Bars closed". I have been a good Bartender/Bouncer for over 6 years and can't believe that the owner as such rude, arrogant, weak, thieving, lames representing his establishment. I will never never ever go there again and don't recommend it to anyone or anybody!! Thumbs down way way down!! On a scale of 1 to 10 I rate this Bar and its crew a -5
