Editorial Review for Joxer Daly's – by Lilla Zuckerman
The Scene
This is a genuine Irish pub, with the flag hanging over Guinness promotional posters, a host of European beers on tap and a familial atmosphere. It's also an American sports bar, with dingy wood interiors, no-frills seating and a big-screen TV flickering along with a dozen others, which broadcast sports from around the globe. An outdoor patio is nicely blocked off from the street with tables and heat lamps, a perfect smokers' retreat, despite the view of unglamorous Washington Boulevard traffic. The staff is surprisingly attentive, and the mixed crowd gets rowdier after sunset.
The Draw
Men and women are equally comfortable here, strangers share the pool table and groups of hipsters swill drafts while playing endless games of cards. Albeit dark and moody, Joxer may be one of the few dives where you could bring your mother.

Insider Tips
ParkingThough there is metered parking in front of the pub, free street parking is available one block east.
What to EatThe bar menu is packed with killer bacon burgers, Irish nachos and fish and chips.
When to GoEvery Sunday night, Joxer hosts comedy on its small stage. Call for info about karaoke nights, which are always raucous and crowded.

First and foremost, this is a great Irish pub and a great sports bar. That being said, it's also very much a dive bar. The drinks are cheap and strong and it's pretty dark. The crowd is usually late 28-35ish and everyone is really friendly. You can always meet someone new and strike up a conversation. The guy to girl ratio is about 2349203949203:1, but the guys aren't creepy or offensive; they're usually just there to share a pint and watch some sports. The bar staff is attentive, and they will remember you within 2 or 3 visits, no matter how far apart those visits are. The bartenders are sweet, can make anything well, and are quick and efficient. The food = HUGE portions, and delicious. I recommend the Joxer's burger or the nachos. It's typical bar food and it's priced moderately for the portions you get. The best night to go is Wednesday, for karaoke. The regular to first or second timer ratio is pretty even on Wednesdays, and you're sure to have a fabulous time. They also do some sort of gambling thing on Tuesdays, have live music on Fridays, and do a pub quiz on Sunday. Also, I'm surprised at the reviews on here that say Mehaul is offensive/rude. Mehaul is a stand up guy and also a City Councilman for Culver City. You can tell he really loves Joxer's, Culver City, and the people who inhabit both! Overall, this bar gets my full recommendation. Try it out with the expectation that it IS a dive bar, and you'll love it!

I went to check out Joxer Daly’s last Saturday based on a city search article about places to check out in Culver City. Big mistake. This bar is tiny and has a weird vibe. I felt as though everyone there was a regular and 40+. Not my scene. Additionally the food was terrible and if it hadn’t been so dark in there, I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t have even tried it.
Pros: cheap
Cons: weird vibe, a lot of regulars, gross food
