The Scene
No longer the Valley's best-kept secret, the unpretentious neighborhood vibe has been replaced by a velvet rope and guest list. Still, it's a beautiful venue. As the moniker suggests, most everything at Clear is transparent. A rotating cast of guest DJs mix it up between cool jazz and thumping hip-hop, depending on the night.

I have to go in here from time to time to remind myself why I don't go there. I don't really get the cover charge on the weekend. Aren't the expensive drinks enough compensation? There isn't a "dance" floor so am I paying to barely dance while passersby bump my nine dollar cocktail out of my hand? And are they ever going to get a license to drink on that nice back patio? I would almost be okay if I could take my drink outside away from bustle inside. And not to get prejudice, but what is it with the Persians, Amenians, Turks, middle easterners and their snotty, stuck up attitudes?? And the Black guys want to act like they're pimps? And the Mid east guys want to act like they're Black guys? Or they're Arabian princes or something? Take you hand off my butt, Abdul! Thanks, homie! Eeeeeeech! When the clientle is a nice mix it's okay. Nice mix meaning about the same percent in los angeles. too much of one thing there always seems to be a fight

When Clear first opened it was great, but I have tried it a few times and after giving it one final shot on their new night, I decided its not worth going back even for cheap drinks. They can't even come close to Howl At The Moon's 3 for 1 drink special or their fun atmosphere. NO I don't work there or anybar. To start off with, what bar only has one bathroom for girls and guys. I went there and waited for 20 minutes to go to the bathroom and it wasn't even crowded. Guys were urinating in the sink. I finished college a long time ago, apparently those who took part in the design did not go to college. The bartenders aren't too friendly and seem very involved with themselves, not there costumers. Maybe they were just having off nights when I went and the crowd didn't look like a tipping crowd if you know what I mean. So maybe its not their fault. Drink wait time is rather long...10 minutes. The music was occasionally good by the clearly drugged out ooking blond chick. Although she surely is on more than just the booze she is guzzling down while working, she played some ok tunes, but nothing special. But again it was a let down to go on her equivalent of a flashback night to hear some modern hip hop. So she doesn't play what she advertises the whole time. Basically she doesn't keep to her theme and went to modern gangsta often which isn't what the theme was. DANCING.. ha ha.. you can hardly do it, unless you want to knock all the people and their drinks over around you and you don't want to do that in front of the type of crowd that is mostly guys... that .. umm .. lets just say they are not the kind that leave a nice tip for the bartenders. I would love to find a good dance venue in the valley. 20 minute bathroom wait 10 minute drink wait EQUALS 30 minutes of time that could be spent much better off. BETTER LOCAL OPTIONS: Fire Fly (much better crowd) or Sapphire, and the all new BRIDGES isn't bad.
Pros: there is street parking
Cons: crowd, music, bathrooms, wait time for a drink, (BUDGET MINDED FOLKS... you pay to get in on weekends)
