Good Happy Hour Food and Prices.
Bodega isn't too shabby. I came here with a friend for happy hour. Their happy hour runs from 4-7pm and all night on Mondays.
The HH wine is $5 a glass, $15 carafes, and $21 a bottle. You get to choose from a list that offers about 12 white and 12 red wines. The regular wine prices are $8 a glass, $21 a carafe & $32 a bottle. We tried about 5 different wines, some better than others. If you are a wine snob, this might not be the place for you. I am a bit of a wine snob, but happy hour prices squash any snobbery. : )
For HH food, we went with the Pepperoni and Cheese plate ($4) and the Margherita Pizza ($7). The pizza was made of a thick bread dough and was quite good. The pepperoni was good, but I would have preferred a different cheese. It was a long block of cheddar, but is a great deal at only $4.
The waitress was the only down side of the evening. She literally walked by our table about 5 times with our glasses empty and she didn't ask if we wanted anything else. We had to flag her down. Bad service on her part, but I would still return.
As for the place itself, I liked the layout of it. Half the place had tall community tables and the other half had more of a lounge feel.
Good to know: This place is walking distance from the Metro Gold Line! woohoo!!

I went their last night and the place was small and cozy. Good atmosphere, service was good, wine was good. I complaints.

Good wine for cheap.
I went on a Wednesday night, so the Wine was discounted to almost half price per bottle. The music was good, but later on they started playing hardcore rap, so the gangster-type dudes started dancing and the chicks bailed.
This place is a singles spot / pick-up joint, so go with a good wing man/woman.
Also, it has all kinds of seating to fit the mood.

Avoid -- terrible wines.
This place is highly overrated. Anyone who knows anything about wine would not like Bodega. VERY disappointing.

Lame.
If you like decent wine and good food then skip this place. It is overpriced and the wine selection is less than impressive. Coke mixed with wine?? Enough said.

great during the week.
I usually don't go out during the week because I have to wake up for work at dawn, but this place is great on sunday and monday nights. There aren't many places that are happening on those nights, but Bodega is an exception. The music is great, and so is the wine selection as well as specialty soju cocktails. Keep in mind, this is a beer and wine establishment. Head downstairs to the Yard House if you're looking for liquor.

scene overwhelms.
i had heard and read great things about Bodega, so i was highly disappointed when i finally went with a group of friends. while i do like the concept, in reality the wine was mediocre, the service average and the crowd was a swarming and smarmy singles scene (albeit young and attractive). if you like wine and actually want to hold a conversation with the person you came with rather than ten others trying to pick you up, then bodega is not for you.

Great Place to Unwind.
Bodega is one of my favorite places to go in Pasadena. The wine selections are great and represent a wide array of regions and flavors. The food is very good as well. They make a brie grilled cheese, and a tuna panini. The pizzas are really good too, thin crust and plenty of cheese and whatever else you order.
Check it out!!

Relax and Enjoy.
Don't be in a hurry when you head to Bodega in Pasadena. I dig this spot for their various happy hours (4-7 PM specials include cheap wine and cheap appetizers) with some friends, but expect it to be busy. It's pretty small, so you'll probably be surprised when your waitress seems to disappear for about an hour before she comes back to your table. Ive had to get up to go to the bar before happy hour ends several times (and when I do the waitress comes back and looks at me with a sort of vacant "Where'd you get THAT glass of wine?" look in her eyes). But the wine list is fab, if small (I recommend the semillion on a warm summer night). Food is always good enough for a light snack to pair with your wine, and the atmosphere is hip and inviting...which is why it's so hard to find a seat on the small patio! Ultimately, when you finally are able to steal enough chairs from another table for all your friends to sit down, after you've eaten a margherita pizza and an order of bruschetta, and after your second bottle of wine, you'll be relaxed enough to forgive your poor, lost waitress.
