Tips for 24 Hour Fitness

May 18, 2013

Last night I canceled my membership. this Gym became a nightmare. The other night I was working out, and as usual people hog the machines and have conversations and ignore the fact that others want to work out. Two guys were working out, and they were having conversations and ignored the fact that I wanted to use the machines. They finally said they were finished and then said they still had more to do. I told them that they were busy having conversations and then one of them said f##k you to me. i walked away and a little while later he made a cat call to me. I reported this and the next day I checked with David M about the report, he was rude towards me. I called the executive office and they said someone would call me, no one did. at night often the mens lockers are filthy, dirty towels on the floor and its unhealthy. I have had it with them. This gym has turned out to be the worst gym I'd ever joined. I only joined it when I lived in SF because it was a half block away from me. here In west hollywood it is only 3 blocks away. I would rather travel further to a gym then subject to myself to this kind of treatment. If you want to join a gym dont join this one.

I just received a call from my son telling me his locker was broken into while in the 8612 Santa Monica Boulevard Location in West Hollywood, CA. His shorts were stolen, containing his wallet, keys and cell phone. He is cycling and camping through Southern Ca, and stopped for a workout. He has no contacts in the area and is now without cash, ID or a phone to communicate with. The key to his bike

was stolen along with everything else, so he now has no transportation. He told me he was walking to the police station to make a report and would call when he could. I was able to contact an old friend in the area that could help and called the gym to see if my son was still there. I was put on hold for a while, then spoke to Justin who told me he was in the back filling out a report and could I call back in 5 minutes. I did so and this time a woman named Jordan answered. She put me on hold. When she returned she told me, "Um, we can't find him, he left. We, you know, can't keep looking for him all the time." I explained that I had been asked to call back it was somewhat of an emergency, and also told her she was being rude. She said, "Um, Ok..." and hung up. I called back and asked to speak to a manager. The same woman answered and told me there were no managers there. I asked to speak to Justin again and was put on hold. She returned to the phone and said Justin was busy and would I like to leave a message. I again asked to speak to a manager. She told me no manager was available. I repeated my question, "So you're telling me that the gym is open and no manager is on the premises?" She said "That's right" and hung up again. If this is true it is bad business policy. If is isn't true, I can't imagine a 24 Hour Fitness employee's time is worth more that the safety of one of it's members. I am canceling my membership and will encourage all my contacts to do the same.

Gives EQUINOX a run for it's money!. I've been a member of this gym since it was Sports Connection in the 1980's and then it was THE gym to go to. However, all good things come to an end and this gym had seen better days. HOWEVER, recently 24 Hour Fitness did a total remodel of this WeHo space and it's amazing. New cardio equipment, new locker rooms, new flat screen monitors, new co-ed steam rooms and jacuzzi, new weights and new weight-machines. They even have towel service, although they need to empty the "used towel containers" a bit more often. But I have faith they'll get it right. I work out occasionally at Equinox Pasadena, and let me tell you that 24 Hour Fitness West Hollywood is almost on an equal par (except at 24 HR, they don't supply Kiehl's shampoo!)

Great pool facilities. I joined the 24hour fitness 4 years ago for the pool facilities only. In the beginning, the pool at the Arclight building was always closed, or at least it seemed so to me and the lanes seemed narrower. the pool at the West Hollywood facility is great. It's an outdoor pool and is clean and perfectly temperatured (is that a word?). Conversely, the locker room section is disgusting and I rarely go in there. As long as they keep the pool up to the standards they have now I'll always been a member.

Full-service gym offers weights, cardio equipment, sauna, steam room, classes and personal training, open for most hours of the day.. In Short
With classes ranging from 24 Hour Tease, a sexy strip aerobic class, to the more subdued Vinyasa flow yoga and butt-kickin' boot camp, this active sports club is packed with health conscious (and some insomniac) gym goers. Stocked with the latest cardio and weight-training equipment, this gym cranks up the pumping music, flicks on the Plasma TV sets, and lets fitness fanatics work out according to their own schedule. With affordable rates and a friendly, knowledgeable staff, personal training is another tangible get-fit option. And while the moniker is somewhat misleading, on most days the door is open for at least nineteen hours--not too shabby.

Made me never want to go to a gym again!. The energy in the two facilities I have used (Mid-Wilshire, Beverly Hills) is awful, it is crowded, dark and dirty. The Beverly Hills facilities are the worst, there are a million machines packed tightly in this awkward space, with no sunlight and it reeks! Worst of all, when I went there was no air conditioner so it was hellishly hot. I would not recommend this place to anyone, if this is your only option, try the beach or Runyon Canyon for excercise, invest in a couple of free weights and bands, working out here will definitely get you off your fitness path and make you want to never work out there again!

Okay.... eew!. Back in the day, say, the late '80s or early '90s, this was a fantastic gym. Unfortunately, it appears nothing --not the equipment, not even the carpet -- has been updated since then. The place gets an "A" for location; right in the middle of Boystown, with a killer view of Santa Monica Boulevard and the hills. But the lockerroom is FILTHY, the weights always unracked, and the equipment in a bad state of repair. It's a miracle to me this chain stays in business.

Great people- crappy facilities/machines. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the location is great for me- as a woman I have plenty of privacy- BUT a large fraction of the machines are broken- I would say one in 5 has an "out of order" sign on it, and half of the ellipticals squeek or shake severely. There is usually one water gountain ut of order at all times- I have not had this problem at other 24 hour fitness locations.

Very little is repaired in the womens locker room area- possibly because few women use this location. There is usually one bathroom out of order, there hasn't been paper towels in the bathrooms in the 4 years I've been there. Water pressure in the showers is a consistent issue, and it has never changed.

To no fault of 24F, I hae been stolen from there- twice. My locker was broken into and my wallet was stolen. Another time, it was just the cash in my wallet (80$)- there is often a homeless woman who gets into the gym somehow, and she may have nothing to do with the thefts, but this does show that there is not a lot of attention payed to who wanders in the gym.

...BUT, I still go! =) I leave all my valuables in the trunk of my car- which I park atleast 4 blocks away o avoid the 5$ parking fee at the parking garage. I always plan to shower at home now.

Cheap, very gay friendly, big facilities.. Great value for your money, lots of equipment with big windows and a view outside, lots of room and space and a great location with parking...but this place has the nastiest locker room and sauna I have ever seen outside a Travelodge motel. I won't even change there.

If they just redid the locker rooms I would give it a star for value.

But the workout equipment is great, and members are nice, if not a bit forward. I was asked twice to do a questionable "model" shoot by chatty members. They have a much nicer 24 Hour Fitness in the Cineramadome on Sunset and Vine. Gorgeous!

At best it's convenient.. Think twice before signing up at this health club. While it is convenient for the locals, the facilities leave a bit to be desired. It is a spacious layout on many different levels. Air conditioning is a major problem, it gets very hot and uncomforatble quite often. The equipment is average. I'd switch if there was another convenient option.
