In Short
Hidden from the main street inside a strip mall, a golden Buddha greets waiting guests as the staff scurries to clear tables. With few words, the horde of local families and visiting foodies are seated in the black-and-white checkered dining room and given an expansive menu with over 100 dishes to choose from, including the usual steaming bowls of pho, rice plates and Vietnamese sandwiches. Signature favorites include the seven courses of beef, sizzling barbeque-style hot plates and baked catfish--all served with rice paper, herbs, cucumbers and pickled carrots for do-it-yourself spring rolls.

The Vietnam House food is okay, but their service is HORRIBLE. After they give you your order, they don't want to be brother again. When I asked for more water they never came. After several rounds of flagging down four waiters in a 45 minutes time, we were greeted with looks of disgust and why are you brothering me expressions. After they gave me my water, one of waiter there even stared down at me and said "Anything else?"in a rude tone of voice. It is the RUDEST restaurant I been to. Don't waste your money here. We come to enjoy, not to be punished by people we are giving our business to.

I don't understand why my stomache has issues with Vietnamese food. Never had a problem with this place till last week. The food is always great. Maybe they just aren't sanitary. First I got sick from eating at Lee Kam Kee on Valley & Fremont. Now this place is giving me issues. I ordered the Meatball pho, which i've purposely switched from the Raw Beef Pho, so I wouldn't get sick. That didn't work. Guess that's another place to add to my list of restaurants to avoid

I have to recommend the rice noodle dish with BBQ beef or BBQ pork. They're thinly sliced strips, seasoned and thrown in with rice vermicelli noodles and mint leaves. (Also comes with a pair of egg rolls.) Very satisfying, but not overly filling. I also had the iced coffee. It takes a while for the coffee to filter into the glass, but when it's done, the beverage is strong and sweet. Prices are reasonable, parking is free. There may be a short wait, and the restaurant closes for about a month during the summer.

Save Money:
If you're considering the seven courses of beef, make sure to share the order. All dishes come in generous portions and this one in particular easily serves two to three people.
Know Before You Go:
The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays, but its sister restaurant Golden Deli is open.
Look Good:
Call ahead and order the baked fish. It takes 45 minutes to prepare.
