Editorial Review for Stroh's Gourmet – by Lilla Zuckerman
In Short
Packed with beachgoers, dog walkers and locals, this deli is pure Southern California in terms of clientele. Inside, however, one may feel transported to Europe, with shelves full of international treats and deli cases stacked with unusual cured meats, pates and cheeses such as Humboldt Fog goat cheese and Italian prosciutto. The turkey and avocado sandwich is popular, as is the steak and peppers on a panini. Imported soda and Madhouse Chips round out a picnic pack.

Insider Tips
Where to SitWaiting for a sidewalk table may be futile, so scout a nice spot to eat nearby. Hint: The Pacific Ocean is just a few blocks west.
ParkingTurn left on Santa Clara and grab one of the free spots on parallel Electric Avenue. Be sure to watch for restrictions.
Know Before You GoMost sandwiches are pre-made then freshly pressed, so if you are allergic to anything, let the staff know.

I love their cheese selection. No, they don't offer a wide array. They've simply selected a few of the best cheeses. The J.D.'s chipotle hot sauce is the best! Their staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgable.
Pros: food, staff
Cons: seating

i love this place -- i used to live a few blocks away and i walked to stroh's regularly for lunch.. the deli stuff is good, like sandwiches they put into a panini press.. there are delish cookies, as well. everyone's really friendly in here and i always end up talking to the other customers - it feels like a little meeting place for venice locals. plus, there's a few tables outside where it's great to sit and watch the people on abbot kinney walk by..
