chicken salad, crowded loud, excellent desert, food quality, garden burger salad, good service, hearty meal
Completely rude and unapologetic. I work very close to Hedley's, and many people from and at my business order from them, until now. I was extremely specific about my order and when it was delivered, it was the wrong order. I immediately called them back to correct it and was unapologetically told that even though THEY were at fault for my order, they had just closed their kitchen and refused to make me another order. I was told the only thing they could do for me was to compensate my next order. Really? It takes less an 5 minutes to WALK to my place of employment from their location. I can't imagine that everything had been shut down within 5 minutes. And aside from that, I'm out $20 with no time to get lunch and a slammed schedule. RUDE
cozy and good.. Turkey Loaf was amazing...felt like it was Thanksgiving dinner. I lived in LA for about 5 years and this is a down to earth feeling type of place. The service is wonderful, and the food is delicious!
Great Food. I have been eating at Hedley's for about a year now since I moved into the neighborhood. I am addicted! Especially to the Garden Burger Salad. I have dreams about their food @ least once a week which keeps me coming back a least twice a week for lunch. They just recently remodeled and they did a fabulous job. The restaurant is cozy like something you would stumble upon walking the streets of NYC. Menu specials change regularly and there is a lot to choose from. You can't go wrong with this place.
Worst Service Imaginable. I work at a local business and we have ordered food from Hedley's many times. Every time without fail the service is rude, and their attitude stinks. Most recently my assistant called and placed an order but had to cancel as I one of my kids had an emergency at school and I didn't have time to wait for my food. When my assistant called and cancelled the order (for soup) the man was very rude and told her not to order from there again. Don't worry, we won't and neither should you.
Best desert in the world! Try the specials, sit outside. Hedleys is a great place to eat, and has quickly become one of our favorite haunts. The menu changes weekly, and the specials are amazing. Anything with a demi-glaze is a sure thing. Good breakfasts too. That said, it's a very small, modern, spare environment and the food is as unstuffy as the place. The owners make incredible meats and fish, but they also cater toward vegans (I think one of the owners is a vegan). I prefer to sit outside in the small patio where I can watch the people and feel the breeze. As I said, I never order off the plastic menu (though they have good standard fare) but prefer to order off the changing paper menu. It's always done right. The owners are South African and make the most amazing desert; Malva pudding. Hot, sensual, moist; like a strange sweet combination of a rice pudding and a hot carmelly cake (it's very hard to describe, but highly addictive! haha - served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream). Yes the inside can get crowded and loud (it's really small), but for the modernist with an appreciation for good food, it's a perfectly casual place to have a really lovely meal. (ps - ask about the South African wine!).
Garden Burgers are for backyard bar-b-ques, Astro and Fatburgers.. I'm still annoyed that I was given a "Garden Burger" at a restaurant that is not a fast-food establishment. I don't find it appropriate to feed people things you buy in a box at a supermarket at a restaurant such as this. Also, it's not ok to serve people Hot Pockets.
yummy food, yucky atmostphere. We went to Hedley's on a Saturday night since we read the reviews for good food at a good price. The food was really good, but the atmosphere was terrible. It was cramped, and smelled terribly. (Mostly like BO). My husband and my bestfriend's husband wanted to leave, but we persuaded them to try it. The food ended up being really good. But the prices were higher than a single $ rating. The bad smell and the prices will keep us from going back
perfect. i eat here several times a month, and i'm never disappointed. the food is tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced. it's a great find off the beaten path in west hollywood. great outdoor space. friendly owners and waiters.
small portions. When I read descriptions like "comfort food" and "hearty," I guess I expected larger portions. What Hedley's served, however, is a small artfully displayed meal. That's fine. Their food seemed varied in offering and was well-prepared and tasty. But don't come under the impression that you're going to eat a large, hearty meal. You're not. I came for dinner. Maybe Hedley's is better for lunch, a meal more suited to smaller portions.
Perfect casual spot. This is the perfect neighborhood place, if you're looking for yummy and quality food at a reasonable price. I've been here three times and each meal has been tasty and pleasant. A perfect addition to the hood.
