What People Are Saying About Oki's Dog

In Short – The original Oki-Dog (celebrated punk rock hang out and fast food landmark) is long gone, but it is survived by two locations--hot dog huts that are stunning in their nitty-gritty. The most colorful elements of decor are the eccentrics who invariably drift in for a bite. The goopy namesake concoction is a burrito-meets-chili dog: a jumbo frank split lengthwise, grilled, slathered in chili and cheese, then folded into a giant tortilla. This no-frills stand is a popular post-club hangout, and hangover-helper destination for the morning after.

Don't get Punked, no wait, reverse that, D
by Lucky me
Had to hit this iconic punk late night hang after seeing "What we do in Secret" where Darby Crash was seen eating in many scenes. First be warned, a dog is not a normal hot dog. It's a Burrito with two hot dogs, chili cheese with a pastrami smile. That's pretty punk itself.
A drunk sweaty guy told me a story about how it started, "a guy named Sakai from Okinawa just to make a buck." It started in the 70's and I trusted this guy since he smelled like he had been around since then.
My bill was cheap. Guess they aren't looking to print a new sign. The existing one is duck taped together and the additions are hand written in marker without any need to impress. It gives the finger to the corporate establiments.
This is one of those spots that probably really only deserves 2 or 3 stars but man the story is just too good. Plus sometime you need a giant greasy dog looking at you. After a long night drinking I felt like I needed to confess to the two hotdog eyes that peered at me after my first couple of bites.
Not so OK (i) with me

I have to say that the hype does not match the end product here.
The famed 'Oki Dog' was kinda blah to be frank (no pun), with the gloopy chili pretty much masking the taste of the sausage and pastrami.
The good news? I loved the fries. They were great, and reminded me of chip shop chips from home.
Its inexpensive, kinda blah and there are better dogs out there in my opinion. I would only go back for the fries.
- Pros: Lovely fries
- Cons: Meh dogs
Good Value for your money Beef Teriyaki is my favorite
by felnzo
Oki dogs menu is limited but they will make what you want with their available ingredients. I like both the Beef and Chicken Teriyaki plates. When your there Take a look around you aren't getting Teriyaki from any other Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood none exists. Burgers are good fries are REAL potatoes. Of course the Oki Dog is a winner too
- Pros: Cheap
- Cons: Getting jacked at night in the neighborhood
Lookin for a late night neighhood spot... Look no more!

If it is late night and you are cravin for everything that a doc would nod her head NO! to, then OkiDog is the spot.
My husband and I love their pastrami burritos!
- Pros: Open Late & Cheap
Delicious Teriyaki Chicken Burrito
by josephhughes
Oki-Dog's buritto's are huge. They are sliced in half, and one half is enough for a meal.
Their chicken burrito is very good-tasting. But stay away from their pastrami burrito -- not good at all.
These are the only two items I've tried. I plan on coming back to maybe give other items on the menu a try.
There are some outdoor tables to sit at underneath a patio. Celebrity pictures and articles from L.A. Weekly and Los Angeles Magazine line the walls.
- Pros: Value, Casual, Chicken Burrito
- Cons: Pastrami Burrito, Ghetto Ambience
