First time, enjoyed the experience

Friday evening outside patio 7:45, 3 tables taken, 9:15 filling up. Nice evening, early with people inside, why ? Good for us. Our waiter Andy very attentive and a full knowledge of the menu. Like all fairly expensive steak houses if you want to eat big then it’s not for you. I started of with Shrimp with a hot sauce, then Chicken with a side of mash and Mushrooms, both really tasty. Finishing off with a really delicious Thin Pastry with Apple, topped with ice cream. My friend had Escargots to start, then the Sea food bowl he said both were excellent, alas with a side of not so good Pomme Frites. The wine was fine, we picked Beaujolais. After a few hours and coffee, left very happy.
I have been to many Steak house, the ambience, surroundings and space here is much more suited to relaxing with company. Both my friend and I will return.
Nice atmosphere, but not the greatest food

I went to Morels after a long day of taking guest from another country out. I wanted to take my guest to a nice place, but we were very disappointed.
I wouldn't complain if the price of the food matched the taste...don't get me wrong I will pay good money for good food. We ordered: onion rings, spinach and avocado salad, the salmon, a pasta dish and the special (scallops with fillet mignon) and ratatouille. The service was amazing I'll give them that. The food: the only things that tasted decent were the salad and onion rings. The salmon had no flavor. The pasta was undercooked. the fillet mignon came with a sauce that was flavorless, the scalloped were over cooked and burnt, I had to embarrassingly ask for A1 sauce. The rataouille was fair, but you really can't make a mistake with rataouille.
And, surprisingly the place was packed probably because people knew that there was an Ashanti concert that is right in front of the restaurant and they wanted to be able to eat and see the concert. This was our first time and last time at Morels.
You decide for yourself if you want to go there...good atmosphere, good service, terrible expensive food.
- Pros: ambiance
- Cons: expensive, bad food
Best place in LA to have romantic dinner

My Wife and i went to Morel's for our 5th year Wedding anniversay . The Service at this restaurant was great from the begining of my conversation with the person who took our reservation 2 days prior. Upon arrival on saturday evening for our 830pm reservation we were greeted by the manager, and the hostess. They both, with a smile, said "Welcome to Morel's:",, at that moment i knew our night was going to be special. The Manager proceeded to accompagnie us up the stairs to the steakhouse. once we got to the top of the stairs, we were again greeted by another hostess. The Manager continued to guide us to our table. 45 Seconds later, our server approched the table wih a smile and greeted us as if were VIPs, My wife and I never said a word about our anniversary celebration, no one knew that this was a special night for us, and we were treated like royalties. The Service was perfect, the pace was great, the music was nice, The food was AMAZING! The Ribeye dry was tender, flavorful, and juicy, my wife had the baked lobster, which the waiter was kind to deshell at our table. At the start of our dinner they brought us an Amuse bouche , that paired well with the wine that the Sommelier had suggested to us, and then, came our ceasar salad , which was prepared table side ,, the busser kept refilling our water, and maintained our table clean the whole night . The effort that the staff puts out there to make their guests happy and fell comfortable, is priceless. We will not go anywhere else, Morel's became a tradition for us.. And on top of it all, when we finally told the waiter, that we were celebrating our Wedding anniversary, The same manager who greeted us in the begining brought us a beautiiful and tastyChocolate Souffle., and he said "I wish i knew this dinner was a Wedding anniversay, I would have made your niight special", my wife and i looked at eachother and laughed. THANK YOU MORELS FOR AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT!
- Pros: Service; food; atmosphere
- Cons: far from orange county
