Hawaiian roll to die for!. If you go to umi sushi which happens to be my favorite sushi place then you have to order the hawaiian roll. Its simple but the sauce is amazing!

Most tasteful and friendly sushi restaurant ever!. I've never been to such a friendly relaxed atmosphere for a sushi restaurant before. You get to feel at home while dining out at the same time! The food is the best part but the price is surprisingly fair for such great quality sushi. I would recommend this place to anyone that is willing to go with just family members to a hot date! *two thumbs up guys* keep up the good work!

Nice and Friendly, great crab rolls. Very welcoming place! All of the sushi chefs were very friendly and talkative. We saw many adult couples who looked like regular customers sitting at the sushi bar enjoying their dinners. Good place to go if you like enjoying sushi at the bar and casual conversation with the sushi chefs. There were several tables to accommodate small groups on one side of the restaurant. We were a party of 7 people, and that was bit big for their facility, but they quickly put tables together to make our dinner as enjoyable as possible!! They "Kampai"-ed with us for our brother's birthday, and gave him Tempura ice cream!! Yum!! You'll probably be able to find our polaroid picture on their wall by the kitchen... We also enjoyed the sushi... They have a huge variety of sushi rolls, mainly with crab. I think that's their specialty! The "Mountain" roll was delicious!! This ensemble of salmon, tuna, and fresh crab was one of the best rolls I've had. Very creative! It motivated me to log on and write my first review for CitySearch!! There are other places in the LA area where you can find higher quality sushi, but this restaurant is well worth it for the atmosphere and creativity.

Best Rolls and Fun Atmosphere. I've been a regular at Umi since it opened. I have tried many different sushi places, but always have to say Umi is my favorite. They have a huge selection of rolls and the sushi chefs are great fun. Sit at the sushi bar for an even more entertaining evening. There are a lot of regulars and they know most customers by name. I even have my own chopsticks and somehow they always rememer to give me the red ones. :) It's definitely a welcoming, local atmosphere and great food to top it all off.

Unbelievable list of special rolls!. This small sushi restaurant is my absolute favorite! I've been to sushi all over the country (NY, SF, ATL, LA). I had the pleasure of going to this place with coworkers. It instantly became a weekly (if not twice) lunch stop. The chefs always welcome you with great enthusiasm, they made a point to learn my name early on, and they are a ton of fun. Now as for the food! They have excellent appetizers, and the largest list of special rolls I've seen. My favorite is the Mountain Roll. Don't let this place be one you'll always wonder about. Try it at least once!
