great franklin cyn park
If Runyon Canyon is too much of a scene, this park is perfect. A great hiking spot and also a great place for a picnic.

My favorite hiking spot in the LA area. Not too crowded and yet just minutes from the city. Kind of romantic too for an active date idea.
A beautiful, magical place.
I can't believe the yo-yo whose entire one-star review was based on the fact that he got busted for running a stop sign. He was cheeky enough to complain about other people who run stop signs faster than he does. You don't get to decide the appropriate speed to run a stop sign, dbag.
I love love love franklin canyon. It is a wonderful place to hike or relax and is marred only by the presence of people like the guy who posted the one-star review and their bratty kids.
A fun, scenic, money making racket. Go somewhere else.. You know, I take my kids here all the time, and one time, at about 10:15am on a weekday, I coasted through a Stop Sign at no more than 3 mph, and ended up with a $175 ticket from the "Mountains Recreation Conservation Authority Stop Sign Photo Enforcement Program" (yeah that's really the title). I understand the importance of this kind of thing, but you've got to be kidding me. What a racket. I come here to relax with my kids, not to be given the adult equivalent of a "pink slip" from some automated "hall monitor". If I was some Hollywood jerk, blazing through this thing, that would be one thing, but I wasn't. I will be telling people to watch out for this place, and if they have a choice, to be heading over to Tree People's park up the street instead.
Franklin Cyn Park is good for hiking and walking dogs.. I've gone to Franklin Cyn Park several times with friends. It's really a great park for doggies especially since people don't forget to pick up after them. There is plenty of parking and I've even played badminton here once. They have an auditorium and an amphitheater for performances and events, a picnic site, a lake and even a duck pond. Watch out! Franklin Cyn Park is a popular filming location.
