Are You Kidding Me? – My wife (an Asian) and I (Hispanic) stopped by Pipers last Saturday around 5:00 pm. Upon entering we could see that the place was only about 10% occupied (all males?). After an awkwardly long wait a waitress finally came over to where we were standing near the front door and asked if we had reservations. We did not. She said "sorry, you need a reservation, call ahead next time". Heck, nearly all of the tables were empty! It wouldn't be appropriate here to share the thoughts that crossed my mind as to why we were declined access (and yes, we were clean and decently attired). Good luck getting in.
Delightfully weird 24 hour K-town diner that serves a little bit of everything. – In Short
This well-kept K-town secret leaves you with no shortage of nighttime options. Feeling like breakfast? Try the breakfast burrito--you won't be disappointed. Feeling like Korean? They have that, too. Feeling like Italian and Mexican? Get some tasty "pizzadillas" and call it a night. If you're feeling like some good ol' comfort food, then just build your own burger, or try any other of the just-like-mama-made combinations. Did we mention that all of this is wrapped in Pipers' endearingly eccentric medieval-style decor and that the joint is open 24 hours? Oh, well now we have. Need any other reasons to go? We didn't think so.
Best Breakfast burritons and Cutes Waitress – They have the best breakfast burritos in town, not a lot of people at night, there is the cutest waitress with pink
ed hair that works there, she is the business. She forgets her orders sometimes but the customers can?t get enough of that A$$. The only downfall is that cops like this place also because they don?t serve pork there.
Great Breakfest Burrito – They have one of the better breakfest burritos I've had in a long, the service is cool and there isn't too many people how go there, nice place to eat after a night of drinking.
Best 24 hour in Koreatown – It's hard to find 24 hour American restaurant in Los Angeles. Especially around Koreatown. When I feel like grabbing good old American style meal, I always go to Pipers. Food here is AWSOME, prices are moderate, location (Western and Beverley) and parking is good here. Don't munch on Dennys' junk, go to pipers!
Simply the BEST – Pipers is amazing. They have the best veggie burger I have ever had in my life. They do not skimp with the ingredients (lots of avacado, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms)...
They also have amazing daily soups. I like the turkey dumpling the best. They have everything you could ever be hungry for from breakfast served all day and night, spaghetti, korean food, meatloaf, etc...
It is very clean and much nicer than a Denny's but the prices and food are better!
We LOVE Pipper's! – My husband and I have been hitting Pipper's at all hours of the morning, noon and night for several years now. We live fairly close and are extremely thankful to have a place open 24hrs that's a step or two above Denny's. The waitstaff is great and always say HI to us.
Pipper's makes the PERFECT buttered toast. And their breakfasts are wonderful. Lunch and dinner are just as good. The food is actually BETTER than the photos on the menu. ; ) and parking is a breeze.
It's an alternative to Denny's – Tired of Denny's after a late night? If you're near Koreatown and don't want to pay for overpriced sandwiches at Canter's, check out Piper's Restaurant. My friend is a huge fan of their open face tri-tip sandwich. The food is decent but not everything on the menu is great.
Not sure what all the rage is about, call to see if they're open first! – I went over to this dive about 3 months ago at 1am and they were closed!!! The guy inside didn't give me any real reason other than that they were closed, even after I asked because it was advertised as a 24 hr place. I've lived here 5 years, there's more restaurants to go to than this dump. Make sure you call if it's after 1am to see if they're really open or it's a wasted trip.
Not impressed – This place was recently remodeled and while the atmosphere doesn't reflect it, this is really just a run-of-the-mill diner. We stopped in around 1AM and ordered a couple of standards and it was just edible. We would be thinking about our decision the entire next day as the food just didn't sit well with us. I would say if you are in the area and its late, keep driving to another late night eatery.
