In Short – Located on the quaint pedestrian stretch of Larchmont Boulevard, this small spot is a burst of French air: Framed countryside photos and copper pots hang from the walls, while a handful of servers (with real French accents) weave their way through the fifteen or so tables squeezed inside the main dining room. The sidewalk tables, set beneath a bright red awning that's as shielding on a sunny day as it is on a rainy one, offer room for about a dozen more folks. The menu features traditional bistro fare suited for morning (French toast, eggs Florentine), noon (Nicoise salad,…

Hey listen I was a BIG fan up until that experience. My mother and I went there often and spoke frequently to the owner and waiters. I'm not bitter or unable to resolve conflict, so please, spare me that evaluation. My family was treated beyond shabby and humiliated almost upon arrival. I don't think that needs a conversation. There are some words for what was missing. They're called common decency, service 101, and an apology. I'm glad some people get good service and find their experiences pleasant but they've muddied their waters with me forever.
- Cons: Bad Service
Amazing corned beef hash and pancakes!
by LaBock
I went to Cafe du Village because it was suggested by a friend. We were a group of 5. It was brunch time on a Saturday, and we were promptly seated on the lovely back patio. We all got coffee, water, and oj. I couldn't decide whether I wanted a sweet or a savory breakfast, so one of my friends and I finally chose to split two dishes: the corned beef hash with two poached eggs and a biscuit, and the blueberry pancakes. Another friend got the chicken panini, and the other two got the corned beef hash. The blueberry pancakes were to DIE for! So sweet and delicious, lightly dusted in powdered sugar. There was really no need for syrup. And the homemade corned beef hash and biscuit were amazing, but the real treat? The savory potatoes with caramelized onions and peppers. I really loved this place, and will go back as soon as I get the chance. The only complaint I heard was from the two coffee drinkers in the group. Apparently the coffee was weak, which is surprising for a French place. But they were willing to forgive Cafe du Village because the food is so awesome. I recommend it highly.
- Pros: Incredible blueberry pancakes and potatoes, corned-beef hash, fluffy homemade biscuits, and a fun French waiter.
- Cons: Weak coffee. But the food makes up for it.

"HowSaavy," your story seems exceptionally unlikely. Exceptionally. Furthermore, you're a coward for coming here to the internet with a tale such as this. Does it make you feel powerful to attack someone online? Why did you not try and work-out whatever dilemma, perceived or otherwise, directly with the Village staff? Village is one of the better casual establishments in Los Angeles, and one reason *is* the rapport of the staff and ownership with the patrons. As a gal who's been going there for many years, I can say nothing but excellent things about the restaurant and its employees/owners. "HowSaavy," methinks you need a lesson in conflict resolution.
- Pros: Quasi-Euro Atmosphere, Location
- Cons: No Hard Liquour
The Details on Cafe Du Village
Parking:
There are metered spots and free parking spaces along Larchmont and Beverly, but they do fill up fast, especially on weekends when the farmers' market is going on.
Save Money:
The restaurant doesn't have a liquor license, so it's BYOB. Best of all, there is no corkage fee.
