Prejudice at Noshi Sushi.
I have been going here since before they moved tho where they are now.
I just met my daughter that I never knew I had!! Bless the lord! She is 20 yrs old and: Please read below
Went to Noshi Sushi on Beverly Blvd in LA with my 90 yr old mother and my 20 yr old daughter my daughter is half black and half Japanese and we got the cold shoulder at this restaurant they served us our food and that was it they would not come back to see if we needed anything and when I did need some more rice and tea I had to get up and go and get them even at that they were not responsive Wow Prejudice in my own people-
They cannot see that there is a 90 yr old woman there and may have some needs but they can see a black woman and feel threatened in some way that makes them feel uncomfortable. Do not patronize this place - I used to go here some 20 yrs ago and been here a lot but will never again step a foot in here.
I cannot stand it!! want to go back and tell them but it does no good with people that are prejudice they just do not get it - ignorance is rampant within many people and in 2012 Wow There are still so many people that say why cannot black people get over the hate and just live their lives but as you can see those very people are still treating minorities the same way as they always have, they are the ones the need to get over it and grow into God loving children -
Even some of those that call themselves Christians still cannot get over being prejudice so those do not really have God in their lives for if they did they would not act this way period!!!!!
I'm angry and need to vent!!
Best food in town.
Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood.
The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you.
The appetizers are delicious.
Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance.
Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived
great food great price. great experience all around. i especially enjoyed the uni, twice. the scallop rolls were also awesome. will without a doubt, go there again. ty my friend karan for the wonder suggestion and dining experience
its a shame.
I have been visiting noshi for the past 20 years,
but since 6 months ago I have noticed their quality of fish has gotten worse. during my last visit, My wife and I sat at the bar and we noticed that our susuiman( itamae) was serving us differently from the caucasian customer sitting next to us. we were getting worse sections of the fish, some pieces actually had
bad fish smell but the caucasian customer was complimenting the sushiman for the wonderful pieces
he was getting. no illusion here.
after this bad experience, we have decided not to return
to this restaurant anymore. sorry.
Do NOT eat here. DANGEROUS. They serve SPOILED fish..
Why isn't there a zero stars option?
Once upon a time, Noshi was a fair option for low-cost sushi. Which, if you know anything about sushi, you know is virtually an oxymoron. If you're the kind of person who goes to all-you-can-eat sushi night, stop reading, as you'll eat anything anyway.
A friend dragged me back to Noshi last night, after a few years away. Long and short is this: when we ordered uni (sea urchin -- which when good, is probably the tastiest thing you can order), it was disintegrating. As in, I've had good uni (intense color, firm) and bad uni (stinky, wet), but I've never been served disgustingly runny, falling apart, crazily stinky, gotta be over a week old uni. You know, the kind that is fatal.
Which is bad enough. But even worse, when I complained to the chef, he tried to feed me some load of BS about how I was wrong, trying to cover up. He should have looked at it and apologized. I'm not wrong, a-hole. I know my o-toro from my chu-toro, and I know uni, and that uni wouldn't be fed to dogs. No, just possibly unsuspecting customers to maximize profit.
Let me take this moment to point out that I'm not the guy who waves his finger, or demands much of anything out of waiters or sushi chefs, and virtually always tips over 20%, often more. I NEVER post on these forums, but I genuinely believe as a service to public health that I had to.
If you know anything about sushi, IGNORE any of the positive posts you see here. I'm sorry, but you're better off with a Big Mac. At least it won't be fatal.
good food bad decor and service.
The service is hitt or miss...mainly miss. It's cash only...Hello IRS!!! They constantly ignore you and could care less if you like the food or not. They asked us if everything was ok? We said the Ikura was fishy. Their response? Oh, ok. Here's the bill. Didn't remove the item or ask if we wanted a replacement. It's been downhill for the past few years. Now it's near the bottom...won't be going back. Better places in Korea town.
And you better speak Japanese if you want to read the bill, otherwise put your trust in the couldn't care less staff.
best bargain. Noshi is the place we go to when we don't want to take a risk and don't want to spend a lot. It's sushi is a 5/6 on a scale to 10. Like the natto rolls and dynamite too! Service is adequate. Good for kids. If you want the best sush and are ready to pay for it go to Maru in Valencia
if you don't know.... Noshi makes the best spicy tuna roll ever. Seriously. I wish I had one right now!! Try the hand roll first, it is unbelievable!!
The Real Deal. Noshi has been our favorite Sushi bar since we first placed taste buds on it. Nowhere compares. Noshi serves the freshest fish and largest cuts -- no gargantuan masses of rice attached! Disclaimer: Noshi is for serious sushi eaters. If you are looking for fancy shmancy rolls or a trendy setting, you may want to consider going somewhere else.
There is no bad experience with Noshi. We have been eating at Noshi for over 12 years. No frills and damned good fish that is always fresh because Mr. Noshi buys it himself. The staff have been there for a long time and they're always accommodating. It's cash only and there's no dessert menu but go have dessert somewhere else. Come to eat and marvel at the consistently good fish you'll get at this place. There's a long line during lunch and dinner but worth the wait. Try going in between these busy times and sit at the bar...do not expect to see fancy fusion rolls with 5-6 ingredients dripping in sauce that you don't know what you're tasting...just expect good straight forward sushi.
