AVOID NOI

by ongoingthing at Citysearch

mediocre food if you have hours to spare. if hungry, go somewhere else. staff forgot our order (my friend and i overheard the discussion in the kitchen). the waiter denied it upon confrontation. we were then served barely cooked food that was obviously prepared in a flash. there was no manager in sight for a fairly busy sunday.

Was GREAT until recent changes.

I usually bring my family here every month for a taste of Filipino food in an "upscale setting". It is now called "Noi" maybe coming from colloquial "Pinoy" for Filipino. We like the ambiance with some light music playing in the background, framed artistic photos on the walls, good tasting Filipino dishes (Americanized for faster prep) and very reasonable prices for the kind of setting. We bring ?kababayans? (Filipino guests from other states) to this restaurant for the food and some ?kwentuhan? (everything worth telling - since the last time we talked). The atmosphere sets it apart from the other Filipino restaurants that are Fast Food upgrades, until our visit recently. Management installed 2 big screen TVs and were broadcasting TFC shows. There was no more cool music playing in the background, which ruined our dining experience. If we wanted to watch the game shows on TV, we could have just gone to one of the fast food joints along Vermont/3rd. Management should rethink what they just did and bring back the previous ?feel? of the place. They have changed the ?close-to-Fine dining? standard and

made it a low standard fast food restaurant.

Best Filipino Cuisine!!!

by Beauty568 at Citysearch

Now called "NOI" as in Pinoy. A slight play on words, most importantly kept the promise to serve the Best Manila Cuisine you can ever find in Los Angeles. Been in LA most of my life and never have found a Filipino restaurant that can measure up to my palate for authentic Filipino food. A total gastronomy treat.
