good ok food, great friendly service, great mixed drinks, great fun place, reasonable prices, slow service, best mojitos

I love this neighborhood hot spot; delicious food, quality service, and my mouth waters when thinking about their sangria! You’ll find me parked at Luna Park particularly during their 2 for 1 happy hour.
USED to be my favorite restaurant.... So sad what has happened at Luna Park throughout the few years of its existence. They kept (keep) changing chefs, staff, managers, dishes, on a regular basis, until all the magic disappeared. The place apparently can still have a good atmosphere but the charm is gone - the delicious plates at great prices, and the full, chic crowd are a distant memory. Pizza and burgers? Really? Sandwiches and Salad Nicoise? Are you kidding? Sure the salad has been there from day one, but that should have been the first thing to go, not the fried trout or the truffle oil ravioli. There are so many places like the present Luna Park, I'm certainly not going out of my way to La Brea and Wilshire for a regular burger / boring fare, and over-priced drinks. Those are a dime a dozen in LA. "Sorry Luna Park, you had it once and I loved you so much that I gave you try after try during change after change - and now you're just another joint. Special no more. Good luck with your future endeavors."
COMPLETELY inept staff.
i've been here before and it's fine foodwise, but i will seriously never set foot in this place again after what happened to us last night....
it was crowded and they were overwhelmed which happens... i get it. but when you have a reservation for 9pm for 4 people i expect to be seated sometime within that timeframe (+/- 20 mins). at around 10:15 we still had not been seated and there was no appology or even any acknowledgment that anything was wrong with the situation. i understand that restaurants get busy, but it's how you deal with the situation that counts. it was seriously like talking to a brick wall. i guess that's what you get when you hire teenage girls that don't take their job seriously to be the hostess.
Unprofessional and Rude.
After waiting for a table for 1 hour and 15 minutes we have finally decided to go else where, oh and we had a reservation. Beyond rude hostess didn't offer any excuses for the wait and never even approached us to let us know that the table is coming in however long (honey you're just a hostess, you can give up the attitude). The manager was clueless to what was going on in his restaurant. Extremely unprofessional in his appearance he wasn't able to solve a situation and just walked away.
I find it ridiculous when restaurant staff have no idea what they are doing.
awesome!.
Amazing tonight! We ordered from the prix-fixe menu and the food was perfect.
It was crowded but the staff made sure we were taken care of. They manager Trey was very accommodating and our server Silvie gave us impeccable service. I will definitely be returning.
THE WORST BARTENDER EVER...who followed me out of the place to yell at me after our dinner..
I'm not usually one to write a bad review since I'm a foodie and generally make the most of any dining experience...however, my experience last night at Luna Park was horrendous. I was in with some girlfriends having dinner and drinks. We sat at the bar and the bartender was so rude and lacking in personality that upon leaving, I mentioned it to the person at the door. I simply said, thinking he'd want to know, that the bartender was extremely unpersonable and rude. He apparently went and told the bartender what I'd said b/c while waiting for valet, the bartender came running out at me, got IN MY FACE yelling "did you say something about my personality?!". I replied that I'd mentioned that he was very "quiet" to the man at the door, to which he responded "FU** YOU. Thanks for the tip and don't ever come back to my bar!" We had just spent $200 on food and drinks at this place and whoever was managing has the nerve to allow the bartender to come out and verbally assault me?!!!!
I have NEVER been comfronted by anyone in the service industry in such a way and am going to write up my experience on every possible website today. I was appalled and I will NEVER be going back. I plan on discouraging all of my friends from doing so as well. Never again will I set foot in that place.
This boho San Francisco import brings homey cuisine and fun cocktails to the Miracle Mile..
In Short
At night, the lofty space is an intimate, bohemian den with crimson-colored walls and candles on every dark-wood table. But heavy gold curtains and kitschy crystal chandeliers hanging from the rafters create a dramatic effect even in daylight. Helpful, unpretentious servers keep the Bay Area vibe alive while the menu spotlights simply prepared comfort cuisine with a creative edge. Smooth goat-cheese fondue with grilled bread and crisp green apples for dipping is wildly popular. A light, lemony vinaigrette spruces up the sweet and savory salad of spinach, dried currants and feta. For entrees, a crispy-fried pork cutlet stuffed with Gruyere cheese is satisfying and hearty, sided by a mound of mashed potatoes. The lighter fontina ravioli swims in a buttery sauce touched with truffle oil. Make-your-own s'mores, constructed out of homemade graham crackers, molten bittersweet chocolate and marshmallow, are a playful and satisfying way to end the meal.
Not here again....
I normally don?t like to write bad reviews, but here is one.
The calamari was cold and tough, not edible at all.
The cobb salad was $14 for a small plate, not even aesthetically pleasing. No ham, the avocado was dangerously and eerily light green with no taste, and the bleu cheese was the cheap stuff you get in Smart and Final.
On the positive side, a small smoking patio/eating area where I got to enjoy the blissful break in the obsequious California heat with a friend while on our way to see a movie.
Unacceptably Rude Service.
I used to love Luna Park. My friends disliked the prices and noise factor, but I always enjoyed the food and service there. Until tonight. Luna Park has sent me email notifications regarding their Blue Plate Specials (entrees between $10-12), so tonight I went to check it out. As soon as we ordered the blue plate special, our server's demeanor changed instantly. He totally ignored us, in spite of our several attempts to flag him down as he walked to every single table surrounding our table. Finally, he stopped, looked at me, and then WALKED AWAY FROM ME MID-SENTENCE. This is unacceptably rude! Especially when I was saying that I would like to see the menu again to order more food!!!
If a restaurant is going to promote a budget special on slow nights of the week, then its waiters should not treat you like a pariah just because you actually order the special. I used to eat here fairly regularly, but I'm not going back for a long time.
The food itself was okay for the price, but just be warned that if you order the special, you run the risk of being treated like your order isn't worth your server's time. I hope this is just one server who was having a terrible night, but I'm offended enough to not go back again and find out.
GOOD FOOD... EXCELLENT SERVICE.
The food is always good, but what's especially outstanding about this place is the service!!!! The staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy with your experience... and this has consistently been the case each and every time I've visited.
Fun place to go for lunchtime if you want a convivial atmosphere... it gets packed, so be prepared to take a little extra time and maybe enjoy a little cocktail before you head back to the office!
chic-bohemian goodness. like everything about this place. the decor's great, lighting's great, service was great (by a friendly/involved/attractive server), and the crowd was young, hip, &appropos... even the recommended dishes & drinks by the server turned out to be great. but you might want to sit on top of your coat or sweater b/c the wooden seats will make that (hard) bum of yours hurt after a while.
