What People Are Saying About Japan Arcade

This arcade, located in the Mitsuwa marketplace in downtown Los Angeles' Little Tokyo district, may be a bit worn, but it'll give you a workout! This arcade features mostly Japanese imported arcade games, including Taiko no Tatsujin (a taiko drum simulator - talk about toning up your biceps! This'll have you burning in no time!), a Japanese version of Dance Dance Revolution, complete with plenty of popular tunes from the series, a drum simulator (Drum Mania, I believe) and Guitar Freaks. It's got a version of Dancemaniaxx, which you play with your hands (kinda like the old Simon game!) and Keyboard Mania! It's even got a Pop'n Music game and a Beatmania III 7th Style machine. How can you go wrong? My guess is that this arcade is barely holding on in this mall, so they haven't been able to afford to upgrade most of the games in recent years as new versions come out, but the owner routinely maintains the games and tries to keep them in good working order. If something's not working correctly, just tell him and he'll see about fixing it asap! The beauty thing about this arcade is that, while the rest of the mall closes down (kinda creepy while you're in there), this arcade stays open until midnight most days. For the uninitiated, there are no worries about taking a first try on a dance game or Beatmania - the arcade, except occasionally on the weekend is nearly deserted, so you have free reign most of the time! There are also plenty of fighting and racing games there if you're into those. Parking is located in the Mitsuwa mall, so your car is pretty secure if you plan on being there late hours. I recommend it highly for some Japanese style arcade fun! PROS: All Japanese Import Arcade Games! CONS: The games are a bit worn, older versions, but they still work just fine.

If you're an arcade junkie, storm to this arcade! Although not large in size in comparison to other arcades, it keeps current with the machines, and also has classic favorites. Whether you're in need of killing some time, or hanging out with a friend, this is a fun place to spend a few hours at.

Japan Arcade is located on the second story of the Little Tokyo mall at 3rd and Alameda and is open until 10pm during the week and 11pm on weekends. The only problem is that the mall is locked from the bottom at approximately 8pm, so it took us a couple of minutes to realize that we could walk through the parking structure to the upstairs area and get in up there. Anyway, the arcade is not big, but they have a great selection of fun games and "what in the world?" games. Most of them are imports from Japan, and some cannot be found anywhere else in the Los Angeles area. On top of that, prices are fairly cheap (50 cents to a dollar). Plus the games all last for a long time. I'm glad we found this place!
