Not So Bad – I went to this restaurant, and I had the same drink situation. I asked them why they didn't serve the can. They told me that they do that to protect themself from being sued. There was a case where a customer had a soda can and got hurt around mouth. Thus, the customer sued the restaurant which I believe it was not fair. That was the story behind about the can. At least what I heard.
The food was good. I like it a lot. I like their curry and BBQ. Their curry was not very spicy which is good for me because I do not a fan of spicy food. It was another great place to go.
Typical Americanized Thai Food – From a Thai person's perspective: If your a true Thai foodie, this is not the place to go. It's a great place if you just want the typical phad thai, tom yum and sate.
Sloppy service: waitress didn't take down over so when it came time to pay she had to ask us what we ordered. My friends and I, told her we wanted seperate checks but she insist on doing later. no water refill.
Minimum of $10 on plastic or service fee ( a couple of dollars).
Decor: Nice enough for a dinner date.
Appetizer: Fried tofu,Calamari Rings, not really thai but very yummy, good for two people. (can't really go wrong though)
1. House Speical BBQ chicken(substituted brown rice w/o extra charge): It's more like Ameican bbq (reddish-brown bbq sauce) than thai bbq(dry, thin curry-colored GARLIC marinade, crispy skin.) Good portion for one person.
2. Phad Thai shrimp: Good, acutally how I thought it was going to taste (Americanized: sauce of reddish from ketchup. Real phad thai does not contain ketchup, and real phad thai usually has bean sprouts and shredded carrot and a slice of lime on the side). May be a little greasy for some folks, good size and amount of shrimp, fair portion.
3. Panang (red curry), panang is usually eatten with beef. If you don't clearly order some other meat, they will give you beef. The beef was extremely tough, cut too thick and too big. Took awhile to cook as well. Good portion for one.
Thai Ice Tea: real brew not instant powder stuff. Taste right but not enough.
PARKING IS A PAIN!!!!! This place is in a plaza with a japanese restaurant, brazilian restaurant, and Flipino restaurant & other small shops. Good luck finding parking around lunch time. Park on Carlington and walk it. Or just go somewhere else, your not missing much at Thai bbq....not Natalie's either.
yikes! – everything we ordered tasted fresh, but just seriously lacked in memorable elements
they were stingy, i ordered a coke, when i asked for some more, she says we don't have refilss, but they poured it from a can, and didnt offer me the whole can,
Try the beef sate. Very tasty. – I've been here several times. My favorite is the beef sate. It comes with really tasty peanut sauce. The meat has always been very tender. Everything else we've tried has also been very good. The parking lot is small and fills up fast. We've never once had to wait to be seated. The prices are very reasonable.
Love this place – If you come to this restaurant you'll get a great dining experience. Seating is always prompt and service in unbelievably friendly. And the food is fantastic! The tomyumgai soup is yums, the papaya salad is great, the pad thai is so delish. We go on a regular basis and always have a great experience. Plus they deliver! Perfect!!!
Good and plentiful Thai food with great prices. – Went there with 2 friends last night and had a good meal. I had ordered the S-8, chicken skewers, and my friends had the S-1 bbq chicken and the crispy duck. All the meals came with fried rice which was different cuz I'm used to ordering things a la carte, but the meal was very good. Not as great as their competition Natalee Thai across the street, but just as good in terms of giving more food and having cheaper prices. Thai iced tea was a little on the sweet side, but decent. Overall a good and cheap place to eat if you're jones'ing for a Thai fix but don't want to wait at Natalee Thai or if you want someplace cheaper with more food. Definite recommendation!
Yummy bbq sauce! – I love the ribs and chicken at this restaurant! Their sauce i amazing, the meat is so tender, and it comes with shrimp fried rice. Soups are sort of average. Don't bother with the salad. Seafood chowmein is great too. They deliver, but beware, phone translations are limited! They also do pick-up which I tend to do most.
