Gracious service and family atmosphere are the main draws at this local barbecue chain.. In Short
This isn't a typical barbecue joint, and the vibe and food are anything but rustic. Inside, families and couples at large booths and tables feast on mesquite-grilled BBQ in a modern, earth-toned setting. Slow-roasted meats, such as baby-back ribs and chicken, dominate the moderately-priced menu, but crowd-pleasers also include the 15-ounce Kansas City Strip, freshwater Idaho trout and balsamic shrimp. If that doesn't trip the trigger, Certified Angus Beef burgers and mile-high salads are other options.

Not impressed. I had been to this restaurant two other times and had not really been impressed (tried the chicken and tri tip) and got sick both times after eating there. I don't know why but I decided to give it a chance again since everyone in town seems to love it so much. Well it was a bad decision because fortunately I didn't get sick this time, but waited for almost 40 minutes to be seated for lunch on a Thursday and the next day realized my credit card had not only been ran for my lunch, but also for an additional $187.42. Needless to say I won't be back because first the food isn't that great and secondly a 1/2 sandwhich and salad are not worth almost $20. On top of all that the service was awful in regards to waiting so long to be seated and then being charged almost $200 for no reason.

A Nice Surprise. My husband and I have been fans of Wood Ranch for many years. We used to drive from the SCV to the Agoura location before this one was built. When the Stevenson Ranch location was built we tried it out but weren't happy with it.

A week ago, we tried it again after a dismal experience at Outback (NO chance of a table in any reasonable amount of time) and were very pleased. Despite the crowd outside, we were immediately seated at the bar. We had a great bartender who also served us dinner. I had a wonderful salad and my husband had trip-tip. It was really a satisfying experience and we will no doubt return again soon. I'm glad we gave it another shot.

Nice grill alternatives. I hesitated going here for dinner because I'm not a big fan of saucy BBQ items, but they offer a good selection of grilled items sans the gloppy sauce that I usually expect to see at BBQ restaurants. Fresh vegetables accompanied my dinner, and the bread with dinner was warm and not over dried (which often happens at BBQ places). Because I requested a table and not a booth, we were shuffled to the rear of the restaurant to a half booth that was directly in the path of the servers rushing to the register and the beverage stations. My chair was bumped countless times during dinner and it was very frustrating and annoying. Our waitress was pleasant but seemed frazzled by the number of tables and/or requests she was receiving.
