In Short – Interiors boast sleek, modern design, with an eye toward mixing traditional decor with more trendy elements like track lighting and exposed brick. All branches are located near major shopping areas such as Old Town Pasadena, Cerritos South Street and in the Howard Hughes Center. The menu features entrees such as tempura, teriyaki, hibachi plates; noodle dishes like udon and soba; and a full range of sushi. Full bar available along with sake, wine and beer.

Decent food, but AWFUL service

by DelRey at Citysearch

Kabuki is generally a great place to go, that is consistently of decent quality throughout the various locations. Cerritos however, is the exception to the rule. If looking to go to a Kabuki resturant Huntington Beach or Howard Hughes are much better alternatives... I would even opt for RA (which I don't like as much) over the Cerritos location of Kabuki.

My complete review of my experience:

For the most part if you go to Kabuki, you can expect a pretty good, somewhat americanized, Japanese food experience. The Cerritos location however, has the worst service I've experienced ever. The first time I went was evening and the waitress simply didn't do a good job checking in on us... I'm an easy patron, so it's normally not a big deal to me, just something that I do notice.

The second time however, which was horrible enough for me to take the time to actually write a review, is a completely different story. Again, the food wasn't bad, but starting with my drink (which was simply a shot) we were already making errors. When I asked for the correct shot, instead of taking responsibility for the mistake, the waitress actually tries to argue with me; which of course is one of the major sins of good customer service. Then I ask for a "half of a lemon" and instead get one wedge; again, I'm easy so it's not that big of a deal, but I asked for "half a lemon," now I have to wait for you to go get more wedges, when you could have just listened and got me what I asked for.

The major incident that drove me to write this review was the fact that they over charged my credit card. Outside of serving someone something they're allergic to, this is the single-most epic "mistake" you can make; assuming of course it is a "mistake." When I called to have the charge corrected, I already did not believe it was a mistake, but I figured the manager has no reason to not help me, so no biggie... boy was I wrong. The manager, much like the waitress, tried to tell me I must have made a mistake and that I in-fact did write-in a $15 tip on a $25 order... c'mon lady! She actually started yelling at me and telling me how she didn't "appreciate" me accusing her waitress of over-charging me... WHAT?!?!?

This place has decent food, but horrible service; in addition to apparently a dishonest staff.

  • Pros: Reasonably priced, decent quality, consistent
  • Cons: terrible service, slow, cold, unfriendly

Below Average in all criterions

I"ve heard a lot of good things about this restaurant but when I went, I was so unimpressed. It smelled funky from their cleaning of the tables ~ mix btw Clorax and mildew. The service wasn't great either. We waited 15 minutes after we sat down before anyone came by to ask if we wanted anything to drink, then another 15-20 minutes before we could order food. The servers all seemed to disappear or be totally blind to a person waving them down. Anyway, not only was the presentation poor with each plate we ordered looking sloppily put together, but the food was not fresh at all. I've had better in a mall.

  • Pros: having other restuarants nearby to go to instead
  • Cons: service, food, cleanliness, presentation

Below Average Sushi

by fudluverseeker at Citysearch

Not good sushi. Big chain. They do have 1/2 price sushi. It's not worth it. Stick to the cooked items. Over all it is like the Dennys of sushi.

  • Pros: cheap
  • Cons: food quality
