The Scene – Tucked away in a strip mall, occupying the former Stevie Joe's space, this joint is easy to miss at night. But the nondescript entrance gives way to a spacious and classy club, with a long, polished bar, plush maroon booths and a well-lit stage where amateur singers belt out the standards. An assortment of martinis is offered, as well as a generous menu of food selections, from gourmet mini-pizzas to calamari and steak dinners. The casual and eclectic crowd takes smoking breaks between songs on the candlelit outdoor patio. – – The Draw – This may be one of…
Best Karaoke on the West Side
by Gogmagog at Citysearch
Forget the naysayers. If you love karaoke, you need to at least check it out.
Hopefully this finds some people who just love karaoke and will see the charm. Yes, it's busy on weekends, and you have to sign up early. No, the DJs aren't "biased." The bartenders are generous, and the drinks are far from overpriced. Every server there is on it.
The food is actually surprisingly great. Try the burger w/ swiss, bacon, mushrooms, and avocado. Tell me that isn't one of the best burgers you'll find in the area (or city for that matter).
- Pros: everything, if you're into karaoke
- Cons: can get crowded on weekends
Chubby rude waitress ruins any possibility of fun
by girlcomesaround at Citysearch
Wow! I had no idea a karaoke bar waitress could be so rude. I'm talking about the chubby waitress with short hair and a tattoo on the back of her neck. Talk about a kunt! Visited this place for a friend's birthday and pulled a few chairs over to our friend's table when we arrived. We were planning on a long night of drinking, eating and karaoke. Chubby came over and yelled at my husband for moving the chairs to a different table. He said, "I asked the people at the table if they were using them and they said no so that's why I brought them over here." She replied, "They ARE using them." And he said, "No really, they said they are not." She got in his face and yelled, "YES, THEY ARE!" and proceeded to pull the chairs out from underneath us before we even got a chance to collect our things and stand up. Dumbfounded, I told another waitress what happened and she politely explained the way the bar works: those chairs were in Chubby's section and she gets to keep them there for people who want to sit in her section. Polite waitress seemed frustrated and not surprised, the poor thing. We stood awkwardly by the bar with people constantly brushing by us, had a few over priced and poorly mixed drinks, and once we saw the food they were bringing out to people we decided it was time to leave. The burgers looked disgusting. Oh, and by the way, there was old man sitting at the bar who was pitching a tent in his pants the whole time we were there. What fun! As far as the karaoke goes, we saw two regulars sing twice before anyone from our party got a chance to sing. I would not recommend this place for karaoke or anything else. Dear Chubby waitress--you're a waitress for goodness sake. You have no right to sling attitude!
- Cons: rude wait staff, expensive yet poorly mixed drinks, food looks really bad
Rude waitstaff, lame rules, and over priced drinks!
by sweetspirit17 at Citysearch
I have been to this place before and didn't have as bad a time as I had this time, but wasn't the greatest time either. When I got there I opened up a tab at the bar but had plans on sitting down on the other side of the bar when Karaoke started. I was with my friends and the waitress asked my friend if she had a tab open at the bar, she said no but my friend does. She told her in a VERY rude tone, well your friend needs to close that out and open one with me. My friend relayed this to me and I thought it was a joke! So then the waitress confronts me and tells me the same thing. Confused I asked, what is this two different establishments? In a huffy voice she said if you want to sit down you have to open a tab with me. The other thing I had a problem with was, at the bar my diet coke was 3.00 at the table it was 5.00 RIP OFF! Thats just like me going into a shoe store and seeing a pair of shoes for 10.00 on one side of the room and seeing the same exact pair on the other side for 20! The karaoke is a long wait, and he does take bribes, but I'd rather wait a long time than bribe him, that attitude makes me not want to tip him at all. Rather than push new comers up on the list a few spots he places them at the bottom, most other places will put them before people who have already sang. This place was once a decent place to go, but it is going downhill at full speed. I say stay away. Oh! one more gripe about the bad waitress: She took my friends jackets off their chairs and THREW them in the corner. SERIOUS!
- Pros: Can't think of any
- Cons: rude waitress, over priced drinks, lame karaoke.
