Just an Awful Experience. My girlfriend and I went to Guantanamera for our first time the other day and I was not impressed. Actually, I was outright upset when I left the restaurant.

First off- the entire menu is overpriced. Now, I'm OK with spending some extra dough for great food and service- but neither was offered here. The food that I ordered was mediocre, and there was a only a one-man staff responsible for being host, server and bartender to the entire restaurant.

Even this being the case, I would normally just eat up, pay for my meal and never come here again, end of story. But when I got the bill, I realized that I was being charged $8 per margarita- instead of the $3.50 that is clearly posted on a table flyer under "Monday Specials" (yes, it was Monday).

This margarita price was right underneath a food-for-two special, which we decided not to get. I asked the server about the $8 price- and he said in order to receive the Monday Special drink prices, we had to get the food special as well. When asked why it doesn't say this ANYWHERE on the special flyer, or why this was not brought to our attention in any way- the server responded "I'm Sorry".

The lack in quality of food, the steep prices, the bad service, and the misleading and downright sleazy happy hour scheme made my experience one for the books! I will never step foot inside this place again, and I wish you a better experience than I had- should you decide to.

Worst ever...... I just had lunch here today, and I've never tasted such bad food. I have always enjoyed a dish called Vaca Frita. However their version of it looked like overheated- wiry -string shredded beef, and it tasted like it too.

All it had was some grilled onion, like that was suppose to make it better. By the second bite I was already tired of chewing, it was so hard and dry. My friend ordered chunks of pork....again, completely over dried. The only part of my plate I enjoyed was the 3 sweet plantains. I will NEVER go back here again. Not the friendliest either.

IF YOU LOVE CARIBBEAN FOOD - YOU'D LOVE KASSAVA!. Kassava is an experience youll never forget! They have a variety of caribbean juices such as sorrel jice amd watermelon juice- which is excellent. I eat caribbean food all the time, and i am very critical.... Their oxtail ragu is out outrageous. Its located on w third street across the street from the hospital. Ive also tried wi jammin, it was good, but not excellent like kassava. I recommend everyone to try them! SERIOUSLY! i wont let you down!

What's going on??. I was here this past Sunday for my wife's birthday. Not a good experience. Only one waiter for several tables. The guy was trying, but eventually I felt ashamed of asking him for help. Then a girl came to help him, which I greatly appreciated. What a shame because I had been here before on a Saturday and had a great time with the music and the food.

I Will Definitely Become a Regular...... I've never visited Cuba, but if this restaurant is indicative of it's delicious food, warm and receptive service and the general atmosphere, BOOK ME A FLIGHT TODAY! The entrance, with it's brass palm tree in front, is elegant, yet relaxed and inviting. My husband and I were greeted by a smiling, friendly hostess. The server was warm, prompt and cordial. My husband ordered the ropa vieja and I ordered the roasted chicken. Both dishes came with rice and beans and plantains. Everything was superb. (I overheard other patrons raving about the pork) Talk about a flavor explosion! We also had mojitos. Delicious! (We'll order a pitcher next time.) We topped it off with flan and cuban coffee. Needless to say, we were already planning the next time we're coming back as my husband and I rolled out of the restaurant.

Great Cuban Taste in the Valley. This is a Great Hidden Spot in the San Fernando Valley! I have eatten at many Cuban restaurants and tried many different dishes. They have a great selection in their menu for people looking for Great tasting meals and family style treatment. Their Lechon Asado is delicious! They have these fried Yuca fries "Cuban style french fries" that are awesome. Dont forget the dipping sauce! Their Cuban Sandwich is above average! I have eatten here about 5 times and have left very statisfied everytime. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Good Cuban Food.

Best hidden spot in LA County. Guantanamera is the kind of restaurant that will have you going back again and again, whether for lunch, dinner, or just cocktails. Business lunches are always done well and the service will get you in and out as quickly or leisurely as you would like.

The food is excellent any time of day. My favorite is the pork with black beans and rice. Often, my wife and a group of friends will get together and make a Friday or Saturday evening of good food, good drink, good music and dance (I?m actually getting pretty good at Salsa ? with the help of one of the owners) and great friends. My wife almost always gets the shrimp (although she likes it all), our friend loves the garlic-roasted chicken with mojo, the paella is awesome, and the mojitos are best ever.

While the place has a hip up-beat feel, great live music and dancing on Friday and Saturday, there is an intimate feeling that all are welcome with a smile and warm handshake (maybe even a hug when they get to know you).

great energy. The food was amazing and so was the service. They make you feel like your part of the family. The staff was fun loving and energetic and the food was as closest to a home cooked meal!!!!! I would recommend this restaurant if your in the mood for a great time and delicous cuban cuisine.

bad bad bad. Felt sorry we went and defenitely wont return nor recomend it. Basically poor costumer service ,sunday may 17, 5 pm retaurant is emty, and could not get a person, out of 3 , to be interested on giving us service, even the plump waitress was appling shoe shine to her shoes in the middle of the restaurant, waiter /bar man more interested on socializing. To the owner: get rid of lazy people,I would underestand if restaurant is full, and service is slow, but in an empty restaurant , ....
