THE MOST UNIQUE PET STORE THIS SIDE OF NYC. Compared to Madison Avenue Dog Shops. This place has it all. The majority of the women who run it, unfortunately are NASTY. So while you may find some of the best harnesses, leashes, colars, blankets and food take a deep breath because the service is RUDE.

But you will leave with something truly unique and at a ridiculously low price.

Overpriced. When I went into Maxwell Dog with my cousin who got a new puppy to get some unique items, the staff was helpful & knowledgeable in the over well health for the dog. When I mentioned to my cousin she didn't need to buy a particular item since I already had the same item at home she could have for free, the sales person stepped in and tried to down play the item I had and that she should have her own.

On the flip side, they had specialty items and pamphlets that gave knowledge on dog health I didn't know about. All of the items they sell are organic and for the most part wheat free, but the prices are higher than if you were to buy that same item at Petco or PetSmart.

I did end up leaving with a HUGE plush dog toy for my bulldog, even though it was kind of expensive....My dog is worth it! :)

The Happiest Place on Earth for Dogs. I have been shopping at Maxwell Dog for seven or so months now. I first went there two full months before my puppy arrived. The Staff held my hand as I went through all the nervouseness of getting a puppy and helped me get all the products I needed for his homecoming. Now that he is growing up, the Maxwell Staff provides CONSTANT support and guidance for me (its my frst dog). They adore my dog and greet him whenever we come through the front door--in fact, they do this for all their customers (knowing all their names and thier pets' names). The store itself has every type of toy, bed, clothes, accessories, traats, and food my (or any) dog could ever need. And the store is decorated like a doggy dreamworld. The staff is gracious, understanding, patient, extremely knowledgeable and a joy to be around. My dog LOVES going there. If you have a dog, or are getting one, you must go to this store. I'd be lost without it. Its on Venture Blvd, 3 blocks west of Laurel Cyn, on the south side.

RUDE SALES PEOPLE. I have been shopping here for sometime and usually had a fine experience. However on my most recent visit my dog happened to lift his leg and go to the bathroom. I offered to clean it up and was told no they would handle it. The saleslady could not have been more rude! She kept saying my dog ruined merchandise and he should wear a dog diaper when shopping there.

I highly doubt this is the first dog to lift his leg in her precious store. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this store and will not be back.

DO NOT GO HERE. THEY ARE RUDE

Horrible!. So I went to Maxwell Dog (12336 Ventura Blvd, Studio City) and had done my research on the product I intended to buy. Thus, I was able to walk right through the door and directly to the product.

Unfortunately, one of their foreign and badly dressed sales reps came up to me and my dog. She continued to attempt to dissuade me from buying the most expensive dog food formula because, get this, it was expensive! I guess she didn't notice my Tom Ford glasses, but this woman was acting as though I could not afford the dog food. She continued to harass me for about 15 minutes and I ignored her for the most of it.

In other words, she wanted me to sacrifice the health and well being of my dog because she thought I could not afford it.

In short, Please do your research before you go, if you go at all. Otherwise, go dressed in Gucci in order to receive accurate product information from their sales reps.

Happy place for dogs to shop. This puppy haven is "da bomb" or rather "da bone" for any pet lover. From loads of fancy collars for any pups personality, cute clothing for fashionable pooches, and tons of tasty treats to squeekies and toys, Maxwell Dog is a wonderful place to shop with your four legged friend. My dog looks forward every Sunday to taking a road trip to Maxwell Dog.

Don't believe the person who keeps spamming the web with the attitude comments. The ladies of Maxwell Dog are very pet friendly and attitude in California usually comes from those who actually as sour pusses. Everyone has always been friendly and now that the adoption people are gone from in front of the store it is true heaven! :)

As a side note, we had a new puppy that also loved MAXWELL DOG, unfortunately our puppy was a puppy mill dog and we lost her. But MAXWELL was loving to her when she came in to shop. Thank you maxwell dog for being so loving to your four paws family. Daisy loved you.

MAXWELL DOG - overpriced, salespeople really bad, overall Failed all expectations of a "service" business. I went to Maxwell Dog when it first opened and was overwhelmed by how great it was. I went back to the expanded store recently and found it to be too overwhelming to navigate alone, the salespeople couldn't be bothered assisting the customers, and when I finally did get a salesperson to help me (I had to ask her for help) she sold me dog food that she said I culd also buy at Petco, WRONG. She was barely tolerable, misinformed, and pretty much annoying. When I returned to let them know that the dog food was NOT available at Petco, they couldn't care less. I will NEVER step foot in there again. I thought shopping at Petco was bad until I went to maxwell Dog. Poor Maxwell,...

Bad Service in my opinion...I might as well been invisible. I went here very excited after all the good reviews....and was highly disappointed. I wasn't greeted when I came in and was ignored the whole time I was there. I thought "maybe its not me...maybe they just don't want to be pushy sales people". But nope, right after that though another woman walked in (a white woman) and they greeted her and went straight to helping her pick out a collar. While I wandered towards the door I heard one woman perk up and say hello... I turned around...and nope not for me. Another woman (also white) had walked in. I left without a word. Maybe it was a bad day...I don't know. But I will never go back. I am mixed by the way.
