very professional tech, too big mike diamond, good customer service, full repairperson
BEWARE. My first experience with these guys was good, resolved my problem. Called them back for a stopped tub that was also leaking at the drain. Was quoted $2975.00 and told that my concrete slab needed to be jack hammered in order to access the drain for repair. Called in Mitchells plumbing in Upland, CA. Mitchells repaired the leak and cleared the clogged drain for $317.50.
One of the worst, if not the worse plumbing contractors in the greater Los Angeles area. Avoid this company at all cost! They ripped off my 87 year old mother for $1900 on a $300-400.00 job. Her sewer was backed up at the time and they convinced her to waive her 3 day rights. Before a camera inspection and a hydro jet treatment for tree roots, she signed the work order much to my horror(unfortunately I didn't find out until afterward). The kicker here is that she didn't have the money so they also just happened to have a GE Mastercard program they signed her up for-how convenient!!! They even gave her an estimate for repiping the sewer line for over $20,000 which she has since received subsequent estimates for $6800, just a slight difference! Warn everyone you know about this company to avoid like the plague! They are true ripoff artists and prey on the unknowing and in this case, the elderly. I always say, what goes around, comes around!!!!!! I only wish I could be there to see their up and comance that day. Hopefully you are not reading this after the fact!!!!! By the way, their Bedder Biz rating is a D-, stating to avoid or proceed with extreme caution. Need I say more?
Very disturbing experience.
I had the Mike Diamond service come by to offer an estimate after I bought my house and the brand new toilets didn't flush correctly. The plumber tried to explain that since no parts were available for these "exotic" toilets they would have to replace the units in their entirety. Also, the plumber explained that the floor needed to be repaired before installing the replacement unit. The total estimate was well over $1000. I did complain but never heard from them.
The total repair ended up costing $75 and required the adjustment of the chain and some screws. The floor was just fine. What a sham.
Avoid this plumber. We have lived in a townhouse for a few years and have called this place several times to fix leaking pipes, toilet, shower knobs etc. Most of the past times were ok - we continued to use them because they can come quick. The problem with them is that they seem to overcharge or try to oversell you. It really depends on the person they send. Twice, we have been told we needed work done that was going to cost hundreds of dollars, and twice, the repairperson was full of it. We are not going to call them again - this last time, they wanted 600 just to install a dishwasher!!! Sears will install a dishwasher for 200.
Better options out there.
Mike Diamond has the facade of a good company with good customer service- and they may very well be competent, but I never got to that point. I called on Sunday and knew exactly the work that I needed and the parts that were required. They charge at $57 to come out to even look at the problem. I explained that I wanted the work complete the same day and asked if the parts that I thought I needed were stocked on the truck. They said that the truck was fully stocked, but that they did not know what parts it had. I explained that I would not pay a service call if they could not do the work, and they sent the technician out anyway. Sure enough he didn't have the parts, he said that it was not a stocked part. (I ended up paying him anyway, since it was going to come out of his pocket.)
The take away here, is that a big company with customer service is important to you, then call Roto-Rooter, they'll come out just as fast with the same pricing and skilled technicians but without a service call charge. Or call a smaller plumber that you can talk to that will tell you what he can and cannot do before even coming out to your job.
Mike Diamond is not big enough to be as professional as a national chain and too big to offer what a smaller local plumber can in terms of personal service. Don't waste your time stuck in the middle.
Very Satisfied. Mike Diamond looks like they're very interested in satisfying their customers. About a month ago, I had to replace a sewage backflow gate because another plumber had broken it. I had initially spoken to their tech and was going to do it myself. I got straight advice from him and that was it. I had only called him after a few days because I had such a hard time finding a part myself. They gladly came by and put it a good day's work. Both tech's were very professional and friendly.
