One of the best casual sushi joints in West LA!. Ami has never disappointed me. I went here with a friend who recommended it to me. I recommend parking in the structure across from the restaurant, which has 2 hours free parking at least before 6pm. I loved their appetizer "Dynamite". The rolls I recommend are "Las Vegas roll" and the "crunchy roll". The las vegas roll pleases almost everyone i know out there, even people that are picky with their sushi! I have never tried their dessert. Their service is decent and the ambience is not bad. It's also good for large parties!

Great place to come with a group. Ami provides a sushi place that appears to be a little higher end, for prices that are normal for rolls and boxes. The dim lighting creates a relaxed atmosphere, making it great for an evening dinner followed by Sake bombing. I like coming here for lunch too because the bento boxes are well priced and the fish is fresh and tasty. As for service, it depends- sometimes they're quick and pushy and at other times servers know exactly when to refill your drink, take additional orders, etc.

Good for large groups. When I ate here with a large group for a birthday dinner, I was impressed with how accommodating the servers were to our requests, especially since it was a really busy night. Our waiter was surprisingly attentive - the food came pretty quickly and I think my water glass was refilled five times during the meal. I recommend the dragon roll (eel and avocado on top of a California roll), the udon bowl, and the fried ice cream (complete with a lit candle and tiny umbrella for my friend's birthday).

amazing. Ok....I can't believe anyone would write a bad review of this place. Clearly you've never had the Bora Bora roll!!

It's probably the best roll I ever had in my life. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Spicy tuna and scallops(you can get it without scallops) in the center, no rice and wrapped with fresh avacado and tuna sashimi on top. With a nice little side salad with great tasting sauce. If you are a spicy tuna lover like me go and get the bora bora roll and you will not be dissapointed. BTW ...eventhough there's no rice, it's extremely filling. I've gotten that roll and a miso soup and it was a perfect lunch!!

Worst sushi I ever had!. Don't go there! Ok the interior looks great. But when I go to a restaurant, the most important is the food. I went with my husband on a weekend night, it was empty, that should have been a warning sign. The food didn't smell or taste fresh. We had 2 different rolls each and none was good. Some tasted like everything had been mixed in a blender & that salmon skin roll had this old fish taste to it you would even give it to your cat! My husband & I felt sick for the rest of the night.

Unexpectedly awesome interior!. Looking at this place from the outside, it looks like any other average, ugly sushi place in Westwood. But once you step inside, you're in a whole different place. A huge staircase fills the center of the lower dining room and leads up to a second level with additional seating good for large parties. The ceiling has the most insane exposed beams that give an otherwise average space the looks of high-design dining. I've had several rolls, all of which are inventive and more importantly filling! Each plate gets at least eight pieces, and it's all you need to fill you up. Bigger appetites can go for some of the reasonably priced combo plates. The most expensive roll (I forget the name) is served on a bed of salad and is incredibly delicious. It can be dressed up or down and is great for big casual groups or a more intimate date night. All around, a safe bet!

great Westwood sushi. The menu could get kind of pricey when you order the rolls separately but you can get pretty good deals with combination meals or the lunch/dinner boxes. The ambience of the place has a sleek, eastern vibe, and its probably one of the higher-end sushi places in Westwood (or at least in regards to the environment).

Plentiful Sushi plates. The dinner combinations at Ami are great. You can choose a 2-combo or 3-combo meal with excellent dishes like spicy tuna rolls, etc., rice, salad, noodles, and soup. Everything is reasonably well-priced, tasty, and definitely filling (unlike some sushi places). The atmosphere is great - all booths with dim lighting and Japanese decor - EXCEPT that they play loud top 40s music (Hilary Duff, anyone?) and have a giant flat-screen TV playing ESPN - both of which are sure to ruin the mood of any date. Still, it's a good place to grab a pretty good and cheap sushi dinner in Westwood.

Unique, Various, Yummy Rolls and Ami Pasta for fantastic DATING. I highly recommended various rolls and Ami pasta. Especially, Las Vegas Roll and Baby lobster rolls are the best ever I have eaten. Ami pasta is made by U-dong noodle with special sauce including sea food and mushrooms. Lights are very awsome, so it is good for dating. ^^

Good!. The service is slow and the scene is mix of top 40 music and asian furtniture, but the lunch and dinner boxes are great! Miso soup, sushi, sashimi, rice, salad, tempura, etc- your choice for very little money. Great for an asian food fix.
