Editorial Review for The Dip – by Katherine Turman

In Short
This counter-service-only eatery offers a few tables clustered under a green awning. Six sandwiches--pot roast, turkey, pastrami, roast beef, pork and lamb--are dunked once in au jus unless a double dip or "submerged" is requested. Traditional sides include mashed potatoes, macaroni salad and soup du jour. The "Atkins Plate" contains two types of meat, roasted red peppers and a pickle half, and the veggie dip is filled with eggplant, peppers and portabella mushrooms.

The Dip presents THE INFIELD! Once I dipped and forever I will bite at THE INFIELD! The management and ownership are wonderful and the service is fast, friendly, and fascinating. I grabbed a delicious dog this afternoon and I was back at the intersection of Ventura and Beverly Glen/Tyrone without missing a beat at the following traffic signal change. And the best part is, when you're not in a scurry for time, you can hang out and hear Robert's stories. While at THE INFIELD, try to guess from where the seats are. Tonight, I met Mike, a patron, who'd enjoyed the Twinkee Dog the night before... and I believe his recommendation, because he was back for another dog tonight! Oh, and as proof that he really had had a Twinkee Dog, a phone picture! My sons and I greatly enjoyed our dogs. Daniel - S'mores Dog, James - Dodger Dog with BBQ (to die for) sauce and I had the BBQ Rib Dog. At the end... one happily ever after family.

Pros: Easy, fast, reasonable, and great taste!

This is a cute spot, only outdoor seating. I was excited to try but sadly, the bread is soggy, meats are not very tasty, and very bland. Every item on the menu is pricey. I was disappointed.

Pros: Cute location

Cons: poor food, high prices
