The Scene – After searching L.A. for the perfect cheese steak, former Philadelphians Mitch Goldman and Smitty Smith decided to open their own shop. The decor is Philly-meets-Tinseltown: Faux exposed brick walls are covered with Eagles memorabilia and celebrity head shots (like one of Will Smith, whose autograph proclaims "Just like home!"). – – The Food – While hoagies and salads are offered, it's the authentic cheese steaks that make taste buds sing. Like any good sandwich, it starts with the bread, so dough is flown in from Philly's famed bakery, Amoroso's, for those…
Stay away, dirty and meat doesn't get cooked

I've given this South Street a couple tries but every time I get more disappointed. The last time, my Cheese Steak's meat wasn't even cooked properly.
This place may fly for those not from PA, but for those that are or want the true experience stay away. The fries are the best things about this place. For a Cheese Steak go a mile down Westwood blvd to "Philly West", there you'll get something more like what you'll find at Jim's or Pat's in Philly.
- Pros: The Fries
- Cons: Dirty, Food not cooked
LA meets Philly!

I came here one day randomly, looking for a place to eat in Westwood, and I was pretty blown away. Their Philly Cheesesteak with fries is a delicious meal for really cheap. And the place really tries to simulate a real Philly restaurant with its Eagles memorabilia and even a portrait of Will Smith!
- Pros: Philly cheesesteaks, cute ambience
- Cons: parking for non-Westwood residents
oversized soggy sandwiches

I was disappointed in my sandwich from South Street. I ordered a regular turkey, which ended up being huge and filled with juicy, wet meat and not much else - barely any lettuce or tomatoes. The bread quickly got soaked. I couldn't even leave half to take home at night because I knew it would be greasy and not at all fresh-tasting. I know their specialty is cheesesteak, not turkey, but come on - how hard is it? At least it was pretty cheap. Next time I'll get a sandwich from Subway, Damon & Pythias, Corner Bakery ... anywhere else in Westwood.
- Pros: price, relaxed atmosphere
- Cons: food, parking
