Rarely do shop owners manage to split the difference between posh and welcoming. Perhaps it is due to her urbane designs and her staff's easy cordiality, but Ooten's jewelry shop manages to appeal on both levels. Against the backdrop of eggshell walls and shiny glass, her trademark crocheted designs are both elegant and edgy, and her intricate craftsmanship and stone selections, especially evidenced by the "fishnet" series, seem at once organic and perfectly planned. Heavyhitters like Austinite Anthony Nak are also represented, along with trademark clothes from Tucker.
Hits: This pretty shop's inventory--even the shiny baubles dangling from her jewelry tree--truly stands out in L.A.'s already flooded jewelry market.
Misses: Even with occasional sales in one of the back display cases, pricepoints reflect Ooten's treasure trove-status.
