This restaurant's first roadside chicken stand opened up in Guasave, Mexico in 1975. A family-inspired recipe of chicken marinated in herbs, spices and citrus juices was an overnight success and the Mexican chain opened its first American location in Los Angeles in 1980. Ever since, customers have been devouring the house specialty--zesty flame-grilled chicken served with tortillas and fresh salsa. Other menu options include pollo bowls (rice and chicken), salads and quesadillas.

The Best Chicken. This is the best tasting grilled chicken I've ever tried. It's healthy and flavorful. And I really like the variety of side dished. Also their grilled burritos are fantastic.

Are you kidding me?. Who rates this stuff? El Pollo Loco is a chain and does not have enough variety to be considered a Mexican restaurant. It's grilled chicken and salsa. Very generic and very much fast food.

C'mon! You guys can do better than that! Try La Barca on Vermont near the 10 freeway. That's authentic Mexican.

Mexican Food???. This place serves grilled chicken, it's not Mexican food. The chicken can be anywhere from decent to dreadful, quality here is variable.

Fast Food?. This is not Mexican Food - any place that serves Fried Chicken cannot be considered real Mexican food... I guess it beats McDonalds but I wouldn't waste my money.

This should be.... El Pollo Loco should be lumped together with Del Taco and Taco Bell (doesn't that sound like a mexican phone company?). These are fast food joints, not Mexican Restaurants.

It's just chicken. That's all it is at el pollo loco. THere are much better mexican restaurants and el pollo loco can't really be considered one.

You got to be kidding, Top 10..no way. Rating El Pollo Loco is the top 10 is ridiculous. How many Mexican restaurants do you know that serve french fries. The chicken is so chemically juiced up, I wouldn't be surprised if an Olympic athlete got busted for doping after eating this food. Granted, some locations are better tasting than others but after El Pollo Loco got bought out and went corporate, the smaller mom and pop competitors have sprung up and gotten a loyal following i.e. Juan Pollo, Super Pollo et al.

8. LOW PRICES. GREAT CHOICE FOR MEXICAN FAST FOOD. BETTER CHOICE OUT OF MOST FAST FOOD PLACES. WIDE SELECTION. FAST SERVICE. THEY FEATURE A FREE SALSA BAR. DRIVE -THRU IS ALSO A GOOD CHOICE WHEN YOUR IN A HURRY. GOOD POPORTIONS.
