I've only eaten here once, but I ordered the standard by which I compare all Chinese Restaurants: The Beef and Brocolli. In this case, I ordered the Beef and Brocolli lunch special which included a vegetable spring roll and egg drop soup. The spring roll was very salty. Even by my standards and I like salty. The egg drop soup was of a variety that included corn and was quite sweet. I was a little suprised by that. The beef and brocolli was bland. There was almost no flavour to it. I've had better from a couple Panda Expresses(and I've had worse too). The place also serves Brit style fish and chips and a good number of the people while I was there seemed to be ordering that rather than the Chinese. China Star In & Out was quite busy, I felt kind of sorry for the one lady working the entire front since she had to help the take-out, sit-in, and call-in customers by herself. Considering the number of demands on her time, she still managed a decent level of service. I may go again, to try the fish and chips, but I would not go again for the Chinese.

Pros: Cheap lunch specials

This is the closest Chinese restaurant near my house, yet I passed by for a couple years without trying it -- mainly because I was put off by the fact that it was Chinese with Fish & Chips! But it has become my absolute favorite place for Chinese lunch or for takeout. It's small (five tables) and not much in the way of atmosphere. But there is a constant stream of people coming in for both the CHinese and for the fish & chips (it was a fhish & chip place before it was bought and changed to a Chinese restaurant). The lo mein and fried rice are great (just like NYC), and I've always enjoyed every entree I've ordered there.

Pros: Great food, New York style Chinese

Cons: Atmosphere and decor
