I just gave Walgreens a 'Recommend' at Citysearch
Yeah, I have to echo all of these bad reviews. I continue to go here because it's so convenient to my house, but I continue to hate every pharmacy experience. The reasons why it always sucks vary, but the following ones are almost always true:
1. When you call and try to speak to someone in the pharmacy, you usually wait a minimum of 10-15 minutes. If you call during peak hours you can often wind up waiting indefinitely. Nobody ever picks up the phone to apologize for the wait or to find out if your call is urgent. In fact, as I write this review I've been sitting on hold for nearly 10 minutes listening to an automated service tell me my call will be the next call answered.
2. Their drive-through pharmacy is poorly managed; sometimes you will wind up waiting interminably at the drive-through window for someone to help you while they continue to cycle through people waiting in line inside. Not that I have a problem with waiting since I'm sitting comfortably in my car, but I do have a problem with having to allot thirty minutes just to zip through a drive-through and pick up a prescription -- it's easier just to go inside.
3. It never fails -- any time you're waiting in line and there are half a dozen impatient, grumpy people waiting along with you, you will notice at least three pharmacy employees scurrying around in back doing their own thing and one person very visibly on break (you can tell because they come and go while avoiding eye contact with anybody in line), leaving one unfortunate person up at the counter to handle all the customer service. And that person is nearly always being berated by someone with no regard for anyone else in line, meaning you can easily be waiting for, oh, EVER.
Terrible pharmacy department.
I'm not the type to take time to write a review, whether positive or negative, but I could not let this one go.
I just returned from the store and experienced terrible service from the pharmacy department. I can not speak for their competence, but I can however say they are very rude, and do not place much emphasis on customer service.
You'd think they would pay extra care when dealing with customers who are sick and looking for their professional knowledge to help. Not this department. They acted as if I was bothering them when I merely asked about a cold medicine.
Do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere. They won't mind.
Have to agree with previous review - they are generally unfriendly, slow and not helpful.
I recently went to pick up a prescription I had been getting for several years. They told me that for some unknown reason it was no longer being paid for by my insurance and I would need to call my doctor.
After 30 mins on the phone with my doc and the insurance company, I found out that if I just paid for it myself (no insurance) the cost would only be $1.50 more.
Went back and told the pharmacist this - he just shrugged and said "so would you like to pay for it yourself?".
Worst ever !. Never mind they cant find your prescription, THAT THEY MAKE THE DOCTOR PHONE OVER AND OVER LIKE IN SOME THREE STOOGES ROUTINE ! They are clueless and as lazy as they come. It's like talking to 5 Alzheimer victims who are locked in isolation booths ! My doctors office had to phone FOUR TIMES just to get them to recognize an order was placed. Forget I've been going there for years, each time is like I am from another planet. Once they even accused me of "washing" a prescription so I walked down the street and had the same perscription filled by CVS . NOW WOULD YOU REALLY WANT PEOPLE WITH MEMORIES THIS SHORT TO FILL DANGEROUS DRUG PRESCRIPTIONS ? I'm transferring my prescriptions to CVS !
