good large parties, great vietnamese noodle, not favorite location, good lobster, good ripoff, great seafood, most ridiculous swimming
Don't waste your money or time. I feel ripped off. 1st, we had to wait in line. We ordered house crab, french style beef and veggies. They used the same sweet/pepper gravy for both the crab and beef. And the most ridiculous of all, the veggies were swimming in grease and half BURNT!!!! I didn't dare to send it back cos I didn't want spxt in my food. Our experience was rounded up with the waiters forgetting to come back with the change. Plus it was a bit pricy for what we had!!! For Christ's sake, why would people queue to come to this ridiculous crappy hole of a joint??
Great Food. This has got to be one the best lunch special restaurants out there. But it is CASH only. Food is cheap and you should definitely get the clam, fish fillet, and kung pao chicken. If you can afford, get one...tasty, but good if large parties.
Excellent. Tanks filled with giant lobsters, bustling crowds, and great smells, that's what this place is all about. At lunch, you can get a whole fried fish for 3.95$! Try the French Style Beef, it's a real winner, as are the clams, frog legs, and the expensive but worth it, Lobster in House Special Sauce. A real find! Warning: this place can be crowded!
Great seafood. In an anonymous strip mall in Alhambra that already boasts a great pho (vietnamese noodle) place, we keep going back for Newport - the wait is long, the kids run wild and the parking sucks, but once seated the waiters will get you the lobster whether you want it or not (believe us, you want it) and you will begin to understand the allure of the place.... Other to-die-for dishes - the calamari, the steamed fish, the fried noodles and the "dou miao" (sweet pea shoots - a kind of green vegetable). Strangely enough, considering most of the staff (and presumably the kitchen) is Vietnamese, the vietnamese dishes are indifferent - forget the "bo luc lac" (beef) and stick with the chinese dishes.
