Terrible roast pork rice
by roxaneewong88 at Citysearch
Originally, I really like Sam Woo.
This is the place that I and my husband always went when we were still young, not married. However, nine years ago, there was one memory that still scared me until now.
I remember that when I worked in an office in Alhambra, one day, I really missed Sam Woo's roast pork, so I went there in rush in lunch hour to buy a box of roast pork rice (take out). Since I was so staving, I ate my rice in big bite. Suddenly, I tasted something weird and with crunchy sound. I looked down, and my god! I saw a big insect inside my rice. The crunchy sound that I heard was its feet. I did not go back to complain as I didn't have so much time for my lunch. Besides, even though I took it back to there, they may mostly compensate me with another box of rice or that few dollars, but how can I eat another box of rice? Or spend so much time and gasoline for a box of rice?
This unbelievable memory is always in my mind, so even today, I will still go to Sam Woo (other stores), I promise myself that I will never go back to this one because I can always recall the shape and color of that insect.
Nice place; you get what you pay for

An old friend once considered holding his wedding reception here, but he went somewhere less expensive instead. Not a bad place. Beautiful 4th story view of... downtown San Gabriel. We went for dim sum. Good dumplings and chicken feet. I thought there was no charge for a teapot; I thought wrong here. (Maybe it's because we also ordered jasmine tea in addition to black tea.) Kind of crowded, but then, it was a Saturday for dim sum. The parking lot is crowded; you may be better off going underground.
- Pros: Good dim sum
- Cons: Parking
