This is a tiny little restaurant in an un-assuming strip mall. As with all Korean BBQs, you are going to come out of it smelling like the restaurant, so wear something washable! We ordered the usual BBQ meats - Kalbi and Bolgogi. The meats can be grilled at your table or grilled in the back kitchen. It's a true experience to grill it yourself, which we did. Everything was delicious, but it's on the pricey side. For 5 people, we spent $100.

In addition to having very good meat for barbecues and delicious "banchan" (the all important side dishes), Shin Jung boasts a secret weapon--it's Ganjang Gyejang (or Soy-pickled Crab). For the adventurous, try a taste of the raw crab that has been "pickled" in a brew of soy, ginger, rice wine and what else to make the best Gyejang this side of Seoul. The Koreans who visit me in LA can't wait to go back again and again.
Pros: Good quality meat, Crab!, Diner style seating
Cons: Smoky, TV always on
