great price, great local jeweler
shady business practices.
Don't trust this place with batteries or servicing. They are so shady! I had my battery changed for my Longines watch here several months ago and it already died. I came back here to let them know that my battery died after only a couple months and I wanted them to replace it. They said $30! I was like, dude, you sold me a faulty battery and you want to charge me for it?! PLUS I paid $15 at the time which was already pricey, and how has the price DOUBLED in the past couple months!? The lady gave me some bullsh*t answer about the economy and the exchange rate. Um lady, the exchange rate did not DOUBLE in the past couple months, and that still wouldn't justify charging me $30 for a battery that probably only cost you $2 each! And that pretty much implies that they buy their batteries from China which also explains why it stopped working after a couple months.
Anyway, she said that they always write the date on their batteries when they change them and that she would have the watch expert take a look at it. I come back 10 minutes later and she says that it's not the battery and that my watch needs to be serviced for a $100. I didn't really believe her so I wanted to get a 2nd opinion before I dropped $100 to get it fixed there.
So today, 3 days later I take it to Tell Time in West LA which has stellar reviews on yelp. And guess what? They said it was just the battery!!! They switched my battery for $12 and now my watch works just fine. I'm so glad I didn't believe Chong Hing jewelers! They are such shady liars who sell people old batteries with super inflated prices. Ugh!
Watch out for the old 'mole' lady!.
Been a customer with these people for 20 years. Always purchased tag heuers at a great price, and recently purchased an Omega as well.
I went in wearing a jeans/tshirt and stood there waiting for service patiently while the saleswomen were either just standing around or helping people who came in after I did. I finally asked for assistance from a lady with a noticeable mole on her upper lip. She's older, but has a long black curly perm trying to look young. The most noticeable thing about her is a scowl that would make the devil accept jesus.
She just looked me up and down and walked away. When another saleswoman was helping me, she told her in 'chinese', to help someone else, and that my request wasn't important. The other 'chubby' lady just laughed. (They didn't realize I understood. How stupid do they think us fellow asians are? lol)
Finally, a lady named 'julie' helped me. She was actually pleasant, but obviously a peon in the company. I wanted to the change the batteries on the 2 watches I purchased in the past, and I wanted to by another strap for my Omega ($350 value). She was nice throughout the whole process.
If you go, ask for julie. The store itself has a lot of choices.
But by all means, avoid the 'mole' lady!
She will eat your children, excrete them out, and eat them again! Mean! But funny at the same time. lmao!
