above usual hotel standards, comfortable friendly attitude, relatively good value, very nice eatery, decent amenities, excellent service, great unknown spot
Sleek boutique hotel in West Hollywood. If your parents ever visit from out of town, this is a nice, not-so-noisy hotel they'll enjoy.
Great unknown spot. This is a very nice eatery. The food is good, imaginative and well executed. The small restaurant and patio are trendy in design but also non-pretentious. The chef can do amazing things with beer pairings. The downside? Hardly anybody ever gets to experience it because only hotel guests and their guests can eat here.
An absolutely wonderful boutique hotel. The beds are very comfortable, and the pool deck is awesome. However, definitely check out a nearby restaurant rather than ordering room service. Lunch on the pool deck was very good, but the pasta dinner delivered to the room was really awful.
The worst hotel experience ever. I have never stayed in a hotel where I felt more neglected. The staff people are clearly not there to help (or, god forbid, to please) the guest. There was not a single thing that did not go wrong while we stayed there. Our camera got stolen from the valet with all our pictures of our engagement day - they didn't care. They said they were going to call us in the morning to try to solve the problem - the morning shift wasn't even informed of what happened. We went to hang out by the roof top pool and watch the sunset - the heating lamp was broken, they didn't care to repair it. It took them 45 minutes to bring two drinks. In the room, the blowdryer was broken, the lamp didn't work, bathroom was like from the last century. If you are willing to pay close to $300 for a good location, but don't mind to be robbed, lied to and trated like you don't matter because they already took your money - go ahead and stay there because this is the right place for you.
At it's KOR, not much to be proud of.... Ever notice that the same people that worked there a few months ago are no longer there? Ever wonder why the rooms look like this century but the bathrooms look like last millenium? Ever ask yourself why you're paying the same amount per night that you could be getting at a real luxury hotel (over a half a dozen due to complete renovation by year's end...check any of them out)? The answer is very simple. If you throw a few coats of paint and some glitter on a piece of garbage...at it's "core", it's still just that...
Cute, small, cosmopolitan. Stayed here with friends over the summer and it's a really cute hotel ( a former Holiday Inn and before that i think it was an apt complex like so many other places in this area). The decor is urban chic and has a sort of masculine cosmopolitan edge with chocolate browns and turquoise and grey accents. The rooms are really small and the pool is even smaller! The pros is that the pool is on the rooftop (always fun) and the food we ordered poolside was great - loved the cheese/grapes/nuts appetizer -- but the pool was SO WARM it was like taking a bath! The folks who stay here are pretty sceney, so be prepared for eyes to be watching you.
Awesome bed and room suite. Stayed there April 30, 2007. Staff was very accommodating, and our room was huge. Great soaps/lotions in bathroom. Bed was supremely comfortable and way above usual hotel standards. Room service corrected our order quickly and pleasantly. Parking valet was, as noted, very friendly, and no desire was left unmet. Overall a great boutique hotel with excellent service, a gorgeous rooftop pool, and comfortable, friendly attitude.
chamberlain wants to be something it's not.
went there for a surprise bday weekend with wife and friends.
it's in a nice quiet neighborhood, but the views you get from the rooms are either an apartment window next door, or an open lot.
they took an outdated product and tried to make it updated, but it doesn't quite work.
my wife planned the whole weekend to surprise me, but when we got there, the lady that went through it with her wasnt there. the room that was promised, ended up being taken, and we had to go to three different rooms to finally find one that was like the one she saw (kind of). the front desk also blew the surprise that there was a dinner waiting for me with old friends that night. really lame.
the bellman was nice enough to come with us, but the front desk either lacked experience or desire. i am in customer service, and i would've just upgraded the room. it wasn't like they were booked or anything!
bathrooms are small, dingy and unimpressive. i am not a big guy, but kept bumping my elbows in the shower.
restaurant was ok.
we wanted to have drinks at the rooftop pool (decent view), but they made us get a cabana for $100.00 and mandatory drinks. there was NO ONE up there!
all in all, they want to be to be high class, charge you for it, but you don't get what you pay for.
the best staff were the bellman and the valet parking. they were good, nice people. not snobbish or clueless.
Rooftop Pool at night with a view -- Amazing, romantic, great big rooms with balconies..
I was invited to my friends 30th At the rooftop pool. She had a hookup with the Viceroy who owns this property and it shows. The rooms are huge! Very modern with a mid-century twist. The fabrics, the furniture all worked in harmony. not to mention the sunken living rooms and comfy beds. Now let me just say the pool is gorgeous all lit up at night. there's a big
Cabana on the right side step above the pool which felt glamorous. The food was great too. Fries with Bernaise sauce. Yum. The only bummer was we had to take the elevator down to use the restroom. Not one up there. they should fix that.
Wonderful time.. Was here for business in August of 2006. From checkin to checkout I had a lovely time. Wonderful meals, relaxing pool (well, I was there in the mornings, I hear it gets sceney at night), lovely decor, very comfy bed. No earplugs required. The staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent quality for an excellent price and, as a New Yorker, I found it was nice to be in an area that was somewhat walkable. Very highly recommended.
Best kept secret. I have stayed in many hotels in L A and the Chamberlain is by far the best The staff is welcoming the decor is stunning and the roof top pool is amazing. We are currently looking for a home in the west hollywood area and until we do we consider the chamberlain our home away from home. I recommend it highly .
"my new favorite chic boutique ".
The hotel itself is very deceiving from the outside as it is perched on a residential hill. It is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle located on the boulevard. Once inside I was surprised by the design as it is grasping, the staffs smiles are welcoming and the music is soothing. The staff knew me yet they maintained a very welcoming professionally demeanor. The bed was amazing, I felt bad for my wake-up caller as I continued to ask for five more minutes.
It is a beautiful hip hotel from the chic lobby, unique bistro, to the amazing panoramic view from the rooftop. The next morning I invited a friend to join me poolside within a cabana for breakfast. I would highly recommend ordering room service as it was quick and outstanding. Looking for a confidential escape, this is your place.
