not overwhelming yas class, great instructors, great music, not recommended place, amazing spinning classes, great energy, clean space
Founded in 2001 by Kimberly Fowler, YAS Fitness Center was the first studio dedicated to the combination of spinning and yoga, sparking the
yoga hybrid movement that remains today's biggest fitness trend.
YAS attracts strong and capable clients seeking to take their fitness to new levels.
With locations in Venice, Silverlake, East Costa Mesa and Downtown LA, YAS is a place to come together with like-minded people for hard work and fun.
Kimberly's pioneering one-hour yoga class, YOGA for ATHLETES integrates movement, strength and breath work to help athletes excel, no matter their sport or ability level.
Kimberly's bestselling practical guide to yoga, The No OM Zone, is available at all YAS Fitness Centers, as are her three DVDs and celebrated YAS yoga and sportswear line.
YAS offers comprehensive teacher training based in Kimberly's original yoga hybrid philosophy.

While this yoga and spin-only workout space is high on the trend factor, it also keeps it simple with intense classes that don't take it easy just because someone famous might be in the class.
LIKE YAS... but there are some issues.
I really do like YAS and love the atmosphere.
I think my experience has been changing as ...
When I first joined YAS the garage doors were open and had this wonderful fresh air coming through and now
the doors are closed and replaced with a glass garage door. If this is going to be the normal routine now can you please at least install some fans or some way to bring fresh air into the place? Unfortunately picking a bike to spin next to a smelly man client and should have picked another bike . Yes, I now this is normal because it is a work out. But Fresh air is important and wished that there was fresh air coming through.
I also really like the instructors
but had this experience...I do not care in particular the instructions of M.G ( I use initials as YAS will figure out who I am talking about). She screams at the clients, constantly gets off her bike, fumbles with her ear piece and she keeps playing with the music system. Seriously, have your music set and stop fumbling with the system you are not a dj. It really is quite distracting and not motivating to see her get off and on her bike. It's like "Do as I say not as I do" I just assume she is tired and not really in shape to teach the class.
I LOVE YAS. I just love YAS. It's more then just the place I workout. It's a place my friends go and we stay healthy together. YAS is a lifestyle that keeps me health and happy. Thanks YAS!
Sweat hard here. I've been going to YAS Venice for three years and loving it. Kimberly Fowler's Yoga for Athletes classes are perfect for athletes. So are Sherri Rosen's spin classes. Actually, A LOT of the teachers are exceptional. And as a former professional NYC dancer and longtime instructor at NYC clubs like Crunch and Equinox, I know a thing or two about good, fundamentally strong classes that allow you to workout hard without a bunch of BS. That's YAS.
OMG! The review below is hilarious-did he actually go to YAS. I like YAS for the mix of Yoga and Spinning. But, they only have 2 of those classes a day. I think they hope you will just take 2 classes instead and then pay double. The yoga section is really basic and is like watching a dvd. The poses are exactly the same every time and not very challenging. All in all, this is a fun workout for once a week, but it would get boring doing it all the time.
Love to Spin at YAS. Whenever I am in town I go to YAS for a spin class. Great energy, great instructors, I hope they open one in NYC!
just right. It is the perfect blend..do the spinning class first then the yoga. Look...this place is NOT for really serious Yogi types but it suites people who want to get the most benefit out of their workouts while avoiding injuries and are really serious about their fitness. The music also is amazing!!
snooze. can only comment on spin. very basic, monotonous routine. probably not a bad place to learn. teachers are not any better, and in many case much worse, than what you'd get at a full-on gym (which is surprising given the focus on spinning here)
I am skeptical about EVERYTHING. My email address says a lot about me. I try new things all of the time but am always looking for what's wrong. I was on the Yoga Journal website and read a posting about YAS and the writer seemed a lot like me. So, I decided to check out their Yoga for Athletes class. I have to say, the class was hard! I was sweating like CRAZY (which I like), the class was packed (which I like) and when I looked around the room I was surrounded by celebrity types (which was kind of cool in a LA sort of way). The people seemed really happy to be there. Kimberly Fowler, who taught the class was inspiring. I bought a 10 class pass and plan on making YAS part of my routine. This skeptic gives YAS a big thumbs up!
GET "YAWNED". Obviously the people writing the great reviews own YAS, and are on the desperate, self promotion band wagon as they get ready to unleash their uninspirational workout monster on L.A. Getting "YASED" simply means mundane, repetitive, non inspirational yoga, coupled with the same old spun spin. No imagination or variation. If you've had a lobotomy, are mentally challenged, or know nothing about yoga and spinning, then this is the place for you. There?s nothing like doing yoga to the ?Smashing Pumpkins? to get centered. The environment is as cold as the staff and the moves as rigid as the personalities. And if you are drawn to self indulgent, self absorb instructors (sans a few) that are like step ford wives in their approach to spinning and yoga, then go to Yas.
Have you been YAS'd??. The best yoga I have done in LA! A straight up approach to yoga that has a kick to it with the addition of spinning....If you want to get in the amazing shape give this place a try. Do a spin class followed by the yoga and you'll work up a serious sweat and feel great....awesome instructors, friendly staff that know your name, not just scanning a card...Go get YAS'd!!!
