In Short – Spawned by a collective of Venezuelan and Japanese artists, this art-packed cafe brings the exotic vibe of South American culture to Santa Monica's burgeoning Ocean Park enclave. Colorful "Dia de Los Muertos" skulls are perched on bookcases stacked with Cuban books, while festive straw-weaved baskets sit on wooden shelves. Local artists, documentarians, and art buffs sit next to local families on picnic-style wood benches, sipping Oaxacan hot chocolate and Argentinean tea. Other hot treats include grilled chicken tapanades and arepas (Venezuelan corn cakes).

This place is absolutely amazing! Not only is the food incredibly fresh, interesting and delicious, the ambience of this cafe is very welcoming. The staff are really nice and although the menu isn't large, it's really good. Their teas are soo good and don't even get me started on the arepas...:)
Exquisite Flavor, in food, in art, in atmosphere!

I am so happy to have rediscovered this eclectic cafe on ocean park! In the land of Santa Monica which can often be a stale cookie cut of an experience, there is a place where humanity reigns supreme! Modern minimalism meets the quaint feel of a small Venezuelan market. A 1940s samba dances softly through the speakers as I sip the best Oaxacan hot chocolate in Los Angeles, a perfect compliment to the incredible cesar salad with fresh generous slices of parmesan cheese and sundried tomatoes (hey, go judge someone elses lunch combo!) Their juice of the day is fresh watermelon/lime and I think I will have to excuse myself from this review to order a glass...but before I go, did I mention the free wireless?

everytime I feel homesick I seek the warth and cordial enviroment of my favorite place in los angeles. This cafe eclectically decorated can take you back to any place in the world, a place the left a mark on you. the staff is not only full of knowledge about their products, but are also well aware or the world they live in. Documentary nights, gallery openings and private parties are some of the community events you may attend.
Their menu is not complicated, on the contrary is well balanced with fresh delicious food all prepared to order.
ask for the arepas, they are not on the menu, but you will have a hard time putting them down once you try them.
- Pros: full of love
- Cons: none
