The Kj's are terrible. The drinks are over priced and they have flies and mice. Dont go to this bar! You will regret wasting your time.. Not to mention the owner is a paranoid freek and has camara and illegal micing in the bar. she is using it to make her next documentary.

This is a real fun and exciting place to go.

The other reports are purely based on bogus rumers.

Try this out and read all the other reviews, where there are more than just a few sour apes with literature problems.

I am not a person that like to hang out at bars, however, the Gaslite made me feel welcome whenever I went there. There are some regular singers, but come-on, this is kareoke! Not American Idol!

Try it, you will go again!

HORRIBLE KARAOKE FRIDAY NIGHTS - APRIL 2011

Had read some decent reviews of GasLite elsewhere, so gave it a shot, Friday night April 15, 2011.

WHAT A COMPLETE SHOCKING DISAPPOINTMENT.

This is not to be racist by any means, but the KJ was a total rich white boy trying to be a rapper. The music was horrible. The regulars obviously take full precedence over any newcomers.

We put in a song request and never got called. The same awful singers, if you can call them singers, kept singing.

Had NEVER heard any of this rap music in the first place, so it wasn't even enjoyable rap, but just a lot of screaming and screeching.

It felt like we went to the wrong house for someone's party - felt as if we didn't belong there, weren't welcome there, and could NOT WAIT to get the hell out of there.

The KJ really seemed like a Vanilla Ice-Eminem wannabee.

sAhahhha I was going threw the gaslight blog andI noticed the things writen about nat. I am a bar and restaurant owner on thewestside. I love the gaslight and I think itssweet I go there all the time.however I do have to say that its such a disapointment that claire is the owner. Look at this letter she wrote in response to firing nat :

I'm not sure who started the vicious rumor that Natalie was fired, but it is absolutely not true. Natalie is not an employee, and as such, she doesn't get hired or fired. She's an independent contractor, and like the other independent contractors, she is booked month-to-month on an as-needed basis. I'm sure, at times, both hosts and customers may be unhappy with a particular booking, but we honestly strive to do our best for everyone and for the business as a whole.

We take pride in booking our hosts, and I think you'll have to agree, we have the best karaoke hosts around. When booking hosts, we look for team players who, instead of using the bar to promote their own personal agendas and events, promote all events at the bar. We look for hosts who are fair and who call people up in the order they sign up, and do not accept money to bump people up on the list. We look for hosts who are friendly to everyone, including both regulars and newcomers to the bar, and not just a select few. Also, as any business owner would, I personally look for hosts who are respectful of me and the decisions I make.

We have a great karoake host lineup this month. We have Theresa working Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Theresa's been with us for a long time and we actually get more compliments on Theresa than on any other host, so if you aren't familiar with Theresa I suggest you come in on one of these nights. On Tuesdays we have Stoobie, on Wednesdays we have our very own bartender, Breanna, hosting, and on Saturdays we have Katie. This is a great lineup and all of these hosts seem to be very well liked by our patrons.

What is hilarious about this claires note is that she brags about having great kjs. she wont admit to firing nat! why is that? number one natalie hired theresa! number two katie was fired she now works at backstagego see her. "stoobie" otherwiseknownas stu was fired and 86ixed from gaslite and he had a huge following. my girl breanna who I hang out with all the time did noting wrong and was fired and 86ixed from gaslight. Other people fired and 86xied from gaslight recintly wovoca and many others.What does this tell you ? claire does not apreciate really good employes or custumers. I went there on friday night last week with like 20 other people cuz that's how I roll and we left lol because there were 3 dudes behind the bar. who does that?hahhhaah As a bar owner I know that makes no sense.no won wants to see 3 dudes behind a bar.claire you bad mouth other bars and busineses all over the westside and people are sick of it. Its time someone told the truth about you in a publicway. The gaslight is great but youve 86xied half of santa monica so that sucks! You were lucky to have someone like nat running kareokie for your little dive. I remember when she worked there and she was amazing totaly hot and talented. your going to bad mouth other bars I wont bad mouth the gaslight because its the people there that make it cooland fun that you seem to love to fire and daspose of. I wish it had a different owner and I dont standalone on this. Do santa monica a favor and sell you busines and make everyone happy. You are not a nice person at all.ps--I was going to throw a huge party at gaslighe like I did a couple of sundays ago and packed your otherwise empty bar but I've decided to bring that busines to wherever nat or katie or stu will be kjing instead.
