appetizing doesnt, bad salsa, burnt steak, very attentive server, loved crispy tortilla chips, excellent combo, friendly staff
Great After Work Place - Too Bad It Shut Down!. This Chevy's in West Covina was one of my favorite after work spots with cold cerveza's and a friendly staff. I was terribly disappointed when I found out this week that it had been shut down. Bummer!
A festive atmosphere, potent margaritas and wallet-friendly prices lure crowds to this popular Mexican chain..
In Short
With friendly servers and goofy gimmicks, Chevys is a big draw for families and groups looking for a fun, affordable night out. A full bar and a dozen different margaritas attract a happy hour crowd, and a tortilla machine is often surrounded by children watching the dough-to-tortilla transformation. Fajitas, a house specialty, are available with nearly a dozen different fillings, from mesquite-grilled chicken to portobello mushrooms and asparagus. Desserts include flan and sopaipillas.
Not Good.
I wouldnt recomend Chevy's to anybody.
Their food isnt that good and the appearance of it doesnt look so appetizing.
I brought my dad and he ordered the Trio Fajitas and it was terrible. The steak was dry and burnt and the shrimp was shriveled and unfresh. The chicken was OK, i guess. It couldve been better. The only thing I like about this resturant is the service and tortilla chips. FYI: The salsa they give you with the chips isnt that good either. Its very liquidy and tastes like tomato sauce.
Great Margaritas. There are great lunch specials where you can mix two or three different choices. Yet the best part of the meal is unquestionably the margaritas. If you don't drink, ask for it a virgin, it will still taste great!
Fresh tortillas and more.............
This is the Chevy's that I frequented the most because I used to work nearby. It's fun to watch the tortillas as they are made. The machine is near the entrance and you can watch the tortillas as they go by on the conveyer belt.
The salsa is the only thing that I don't like about this place. It has a funny, smokey kind of flavor that I don't care for. But since I don't use much salsa I can still enjoy the food. One of my favorites is the vegetable quesadilla. With a glass (or a pitcher) of Sangria I can forget about the bad salsa.
Prickly Pear Margaritas. Very fruity margaritas. I loved the light and crispy tortilla chips and salsa. No wait on a week night. Excellent combo platters, enough to take home leftovers. Our server was very attentive and pleasant.
