Best pastrami in SoCal. Ever since Togos went to a lower grade of pastrami and microwaves instead of steaming, The Hat is the only game in town for classic pastrami. I recommend the double-dip au jus.

If you ask nicely, they'll pack a 'lunch kit - with the ingredients and bun and au jus packed separately so you can put it together and nuke it up for lunch the next day.

The pastrami burger with cheese is also awesome, and only order the onion rings if you and company have the appetite to polish off a gallon-size bag!

San Gabriel Valley's "world famous" pastrami dip tradition for more than 40 years.. In Short
A combination stand-up or sit-down restaurant, this SoCal institution packs orders in paper bags--no matter whether diners are eating in or taking the food to go. Famous for its signature peppery, pink pastrami dip; the thinly shaved meat is griddle-fried and strewn across French rolls, accompanied by dill pickles and mustard. Burgers are served in generous portions and dressed with Thousand Island dressing. A large side order of fries should easily feed a group of four.

Good pastrami, I guess. The deli-style sandwiches are good, but pretty greasy. If you're going to get one, I recommend wasing it down with a large Orange B@ng and some chili cheese fries.

Bland Food. Knowing that the Hat is world-famous, we trekked over to this pastrami institution expecting great things. Although it's a good deal to eat there, the pastrami is overpriced, the chili is bland, and the gravy is overdoing it. Their burgers are great, the steak sandwich is a rip-off, but the horchata and orange bang is excellent. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you like a big bang for your buck. But order wisely, you could easily top 20 bucks at this place for two.

Great Pastrami, But Overpriced at $6.29. As mentioned, it's the leanest, thinnest, juiciest, yummiest pastrami around - but at $6.29 a la carte - no sides, no coleslaw, no green salad, no table service - it's way too expensive. Our family used to be regulars (3-4 times per month, now maybe 4 times per year), but we will be checking to see what else is out there. If the price wasn't so high, we wouldn't be looking elsewhere.

Supersized. If you're looking for a mound of hand cut pastrami, go someplace like Art's or Canter's, but if you like thinly shaved -- and moist -- pastrami, get in line!

The fries are thick and crispy, and the meat is actually better than some of the traditional delis in the area.

The best is that you aren't paying 12 bucks to get a mound of dried beef between two pieces of rye-flavored parchment. This is a moist beefy sammy that you can use the roll as a napkin, and mop the meat juice from your face as you take a bite.

Pastrami & Chili Fries. Absolutely the best pastrami -- ever! And don't forget the chili fries. An extra large order of fries with at least 12 ounces of their greasy chili scooped on. A "widow-maker" for sure. YUM!

Pastramiville. Whenever I feel like a delicious pastrami Sandwich I go ahead and make a drive down to the nearest Hat restaurant. Here you can get a delicious pastrami dipped sandwich and fries for a reasonable price. I really do recommend it to anyone that loves to eat pastrami's.
