Alhambra >Salon De Chez Moi
great haircut, friendly softspoken manner, decent wellkept room, very rude barber, recommend ricky, like attention, bad experience
Surprisingly great style and haircut.
I wanted a body wave and a haircut in the style popular in Japan. I am Chinese-American and wanted someone experienced in cutting Asian hair.
I came inside to a decent, well-kept room playing Chinese pop music. I was introduced to Ricky, the Creative Director of Hair Zone. He looked at the picture that I brought, made some constructive criticism, and then proceeded. He was confident and firm, but had a friendly, soft-spoken manner that I found comforting. He appeared to really know what he was doing, and in fact, for a Monday, he was actually pretty busy.
Prices were fair. $85 for perm and $50 for cut, but he charges more than the others. The other stylists seemed competent, but I would recommend Ricky. He cuts slow, but I like his attention to detail. The girl before must have really had a bad experience. Maybe it was her stylist.
Worst haircut experience EVER. Hair Zone, located on Garfield and Valley Blvd, is a hip and trendy salon teenagers are going to. My friend and I decided to try them out because we thought it would be fun. My barber was very rude, he said he couldn't cut my hair like a picture I showed him -- instead, he said he would cut it better. He gave me a haircut which resembled nothing like how I wanted and it cost $33. Worst, they charged my friend $200 for highlights -- outrageous. Don't be fooled by their prices, ASK, because Hair Zone services are "$ and Up" so the prices can range anywhere. This place was a rip off and left me feeling discouraged.
