What People Are Saying About Spider Club

In Short
With the same people behind its previous incarnation as Spider Club, this VIP hideaway above the Avalon has traded in the 70s-style Moroccan theme for a decidedly more roaring time and place: Hollywood's Golden Age. Debuting in October 2008, the club is comprised of three spaces--the intimate bar/lounge where tufted banquettes brush against golden ocher walls (and Violet chef Jared Simons dishes out the "promiscuous dining" small plates he's made famous); an open-air courtyard where smokers can get thier vice on; and the tent room, replete with sconces, chandeliers and, you guessed it, billowy ceiling tents--the club is still aimed at luring in much the same crowd. Those braving the mad crush at the bottom of the art deco stairway will no doubt find themselves rubbing elbows with shade-wearing scenesters (even though it's 11pm), part-time models and well-connected party people before getting indoors to spot a few good celebs ... yes, that's Ryan Gosling on the turntable.

Waited for 45 minutes to get in this place; was waiting in line with ONLY 6 other people. But.. Once I was let in and went upstairs, I was greeted by amazing music (80's them the entire night), amazing drinks, beautiful people, everyone dancing, unbelievable experience, would go here again over Coco De Ville. 6 stars out of 5; had a great time and no I don't work there.

Monday nights here are always a bliss, people dance and aren?t to "cool" to dance. I love the old school entertainment (a good change from the norm Hollywood clubs where people like to stare at each other and not talk). LOVE THE DANCERS and BAND! Burlesque dancers are always a fun event. One thing to change is Ryan Gosling needs to stick to acting and stay away from a DJ booth.

When to Go:
For those who aren't on the list, the best chance for getting in is by showing up before 10pm on Wed or Thu nights.
Save Money:
Entry includes free admission to the Avalon, except for private events. Get a wristband, and know that you might have to wait in line to get back into Spider Club.
Know Before You Go:
Dinner reservations will not ensure entry, but a limited bistro menu with items like burgers and tuna tartare is available for those with reserved bottle-service booths.
Know Before You Go:
And you thought guest lists were bad: Invitations to the club are personally delivered by hand or by word of mouth. Each night is put together to highlight a special time or place --a musical style or a Hollywood scene--with a surprise guest performer or a special event.
Look Good:
While the club likes to keep things surprising with the eclectic mix of DJs and music, there is some serious jazz loving going on.
The Extras:
Upscale diing takes place in the bar's swanky lounge area. Snack on small plate offerings like beef filet tartare and baked macaroni with serrano ham, leeks and gruyere.
