What People Are Saying About Amandine Patisserie

The hectic thoroughfare of Wilshire Boulevard might be the last place you'd expect to find this quaint, ivy-lined French cafe and bakery. But thank goodness it's there. Young servers dressed in white chef-like uniforms wait behind the counter as patrons order from hanging blackboards that list everything from cappuccinos to omelets, sandwiches and salads. Those able to snag one of the small round tables inside or a seat on the front sidewalk or back patio place their order number on the table; to-go customers choose from the large, tempting bakery selection of croissants, danishes and other…
Editor's Tips
- Look Good:
- Call ahead for information on the daily soup and quiche selections, or to place an order for pickup.
- Save Time:
- Place your order for specially made cakes at least one day in advance. The restaurant can sometimes accomodate same-day requests if they're placed first thing in the morning.

Best Breakfast & Pastries on the Westside!!!
by sonial1t6
Amid the bustle of mid-Wilshire, I was surprised to find this charming cafe. My daughter, missing the gourmet, moderately-priced restaurants of her university town (Berkeley), looked with jaundiced eye at nearly every restaurant we visited, even our favorites on the Westside. Driving by one day, I spotted every table taken at the inviting outdoor, ivy covered sidewalk "porch" and decided to park, easily finding nearby parking. The tables were not too close compared to some popular eateries, the chairs & long padded bench were comfortable and attractive. Besides the sidewalk tables & two indoor dining rooms, Amandine offers a small patio in the rear. Our hot drinks (delicious!) were handed to us shortly after paying, while my sandwich (soooo good!) and my daughter's soup (yummy!) with small side salads were delivered quickly by quiet, efficient servers. We decided to try the butter cookies, and what a find! We have returned several times since, for breakfast and lunch, and what a treat each time. From the perfectly cooked and flavorful omlettes to the delectable pastries to the savory sandwiches & soup, everything has been excellent!
A patisserie is often judged by its croissant. Amandine's croissant is what a patisserie croissant (vs. a boulangerie croissant) should be: light, nearly shattering with tasty flakiness, worth every bite (and the extra mile to run afterwards). One minor flaw is that the chocolate croissant has a sugar sprinkling that somewhat softens the flakiness of the patisserie croissant. Also, it's surprising that every staffperson during our several visits has been young. We haven't tried one of the gorgeous tarts yet, but we will!
croissants!

I enjoy coming here for breakfast- the omelet is really good- but the thing that stands out are the mini croissants! they are the closest thing i've found to the one's in europe- not exact, but dosh garn better than most here in l.a. the coffee is just ok, but the croissants make up for that. THe outdoor seating is really cute, beware going on a weekend though- cause it gets crowded! Make sure to get the MINI Croissants! They are the one's i'm talking about! :)
Yum Yum Yum

Not just bakery, but also preparing hot foods, like eggs for breakfast. The seating can be a tad cramped, but all in all, you can get in and out in a half hour, not spend more than 10-20 bucks, and have a wonderful breakfast for two! Parking can be difficult, on Wilshire, but we have never had a problem...
- Pros: Food, Price
- Cons: Parking
Excellent Westside pastries
by jckii
One of my favorite bakeries on the West Side, with an always-fresh selection of delicious pastries and really good non-Starbux coffee. I've never eaten a meal there, just going regularly for morning coffee and a sweet accompaniment or two to that, but in that particular department I am never disappointed. I've always found service here to be perfectly friendly and pleasant - let's just say that people who arrive yacking on a cellphone, anywhere, deserve to be ignored by those they so rudely expect to serve them...
- Pros: Great pastries and coffee
- Cons: A wait sometimes, because it's good!
Yum! Yum! Yum! Forget Atkins!

I've tried their turkey sandwich, pastries, tart, and omelette-- and I have loved every bite. The bread is ahh-mayyyy-zeeeng! Service is great. Price is good. You can taste the freshness in EVERY bite. The bread and all the other ingredients are sooo fresh you'd think they just picked it from their garden. I love food and not easily impressed but this place is just solid in every single way.
- Pros: Food, service, parking
- Cons: None
