My Fave One

There are a zillion of these restaurants, but this is my favorite. It has the best ginger and green onion lo mein in town. Also, the other dishes are just a little better than other shops in this chain. (The chain serves Hong Kong style Chinese food. I'm not sure what that is exactly, but, I prefer it to the American style and these newer Taiwan style places.) The service is a little better than the others too, especially during the day. The atmosphere and decor are lacking, compared to the others, but in it's own way, that's better for everyone, because this shop has a lot of regulars. Be nice and tip 20% or more, because the prices are low, and the restrooms are clean (not always easy to find on Valley, unfortunately). Also, contrary to what the other poster said, you won't be the only non-Chinese person there. I almost always see other Asian ethnicities, and almost always see a Latino or white person. It doesn't taste like it though :-)

Best original Cantonese (Chinese) food!

Been patronizing this joint for the past 19 years!! According to the staff, I'm just one of the boys here and felt at home! Man, I couldn't even describe how truly good and original the food served here. Everything your heart desires...it's in the menu, and if not, more menu posted on the walls (ala carte) and then some. They roast their own stuff here, like the "Roast Duck" is so sweet and smoky, you can eat the whole duck yourself! When you go. order ala carte, I recommend these few dishes: (1.) 1/2 a Roast Duck (2.) Mao Po Tofu (3.) Broccoli w/ Oyster Sauce (4.) Sauteed Shrimp and serve them with steamed rice. It's worth the wait to be seated. But I must warn you....this place is as addictive as tobacco!

Real Chinese Food For Real People

This has to be by far the best place to go for a quick meal. It's a little hole-in-the-wall in Alhambra between Atlantic and Garfield that allows you to enjoy the best in Chinese "fast food". The prices are unbelievable as you can get arguably the best wonton noodle soup in CA for less than 4 bucks. Remember, this is an authentic place, so don't expect chop suey or fortune cookies. You always have your Panda Express for that.
