Great Music, Great Drinks, No Frills. I've been in LA for a couple of years now and have to say that The Dime is the bar that I go to most frequently. The Bartenders are gorgeous and the crowd is always a great mix of people out to have a good time. I'm not used to hearing old school Biggie and Tribe at a bar in LA but the DJ's here do an amazing job mixing old with new...something you can't really say about many of the clubs out here. My only beef with this place is that there is no real place to dance but it's not really a dance spot I guess. The best situation is to call ahead and reserve a table (no charge). Definitely worth it.

A Hands-Down Bonafide Staple in LA nightlife. Is it small? Yes. But don't let that deter you from going to The Dime...its part of the charm of the place. The bartenders are awesome (always pouring strong drinks) and the music is good (a lot of rare groove, early 90's hip hop spun by some of the better DJ's that LA has to offer). The crowd is always good...a mix of young Hollywood industry cats, local residents, and true fans of real hip hop (ala De La, Tribe, Mos Def, Kweli, Pharcyde, Ice Cube, Dre, Snoop, Wu Tang etc.). In a town where bars come as quickly as they go, The Dime is truly a gem that is here to stay and is without question my favorite bar in Los Angeles.

Great if you like bumping into people. Drinks were Strong, bouncer was surprisingly not-douchey for a LA bar. But this place gets PACKED! and it's not like you have a lot of room to move. Get there early, and get a table (you just sit at them... not like you have to drop $300 and buy a bottle... weird).

But the place is cool, and music is good. Just expect at least one drink to spill on you and quite a few strangers to ask you "mind if I get by you bro?"

Great for strong drinks and early partying!. Me and my friends always go here to pre-drink before hitting the bigger clubs, also not a bad place to end the night. I was also surprised recently when I found out they have food, even more shocked that it was good. I have no idea what these other users are talking about as far as getting in, I have never have a problem.

the dime, not worth your time. This place was once so magical. But now has become a haven for pretentiousness. It amazes me how a place the size of a USC dorm room would require a door man. AVOID AVOID AVOID. The place is always crowded to capacity because it is so small or it is closed for private parites. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID

The drinks were strong. A pretentious bouncer that takes his frustration of bad auditions out on you. Your best bet is on a week night.

Best DJ's and Hottest Broads'.... I'm a NYC native who frequents LA every so often to have a lil' fun in the sun...I stumbled upon the DIME a few yrs.ago when they first opened and have become a steady customer since...Some say a trendy crowd but isn't this LA?...The DJ's do a great job from real old school hip hop to what's new..Chick's are beautiful, dudes are relaxed, great vibe, well-prcied drinks, who can complain....No more, no more less..If you can't find a good time here please do not blame the place...

Great Hip-Hop on Tuesday nights. My East Coast friends and I happened upon The Dime one Tuesday night when our first choice destination was closing early. We go to a lot of bars looking for atmosphere like this and it's very rare to find in Los Angeles. The crowd was mixed and on the trendy side, but more important than the mellow atmosphere to me was the quality DJ. The Dime provides a great place for low key hip-hop heads to vibe at, without all of the typical night club drama and overcrowded dance floors. This place may be small, but we didn't have trouble moving around. Most people just grooved out at their tables. The DJ spins mostly hip-hop (think everything from Wu Tang, Q-Tip and A Tribe Called Quest to Kanye, Common, and Biggie) from the early 90s to current hits, with a little reggae thrown in for good measure. The same DJ spins there every Tuesday and my friends and I will definitely be back. Two thumbs up!!

A True Neighborhood Bar. I've been going to this bar off and on for a few years now and I still love it! Very mellow crowd...kinda hipster-but no attitude! True, getting a place to sit can be difficult at times however if a table is reserved they'll let you sit there until the people who've reserved it show up. I think its a cool place with an interesting hodgepodge of people, & good energy!
